India’s number two carmaker, Hyundai Motor has revealed that the company will launch eight new models in the next four years. The comment has come from Hyundai Motor India’s chief, YK Koo, who said that the whole industry is poised to grow at a rate of single-digit but the Hyundai will see a growth in double-digit in 2017.
In an interview with journalists, Koo revealed that Hyundai will launch 10 new models in the country over next few years. There will be 8 new models and 2 of them will be facelifts of the current line-up.
Hyundai already has plans to launch the new mild-hybrid and full-hybrid cars in India. One of the most awaited cars from Hyundai will be the Ioniq, that the company will showcase at the 2018 Auto Expo and will be launched in India subsequently.
The Santro moniker will not make a comeback in India but according to Koo, there will be a new model with tall-boy design and it will sit above the Eon in the market. Hyundai will also work to strengthen its mid-segment portfolio in India. Hyundai is planning to launch the mild hybrid Verna in India to take on the Ciaz Hybrid.
The company will also reveal a sub-four metre SUV in India by the first half of 2019. Further, there may be another premium family SUV that will be placed around the Tucson segment. Hyundai has recently launched the all-new Elantra and the all-new Tucson in India. Both the cars are seeing decent sales figures in the market. Hyundai will take a cue from this to launch newer models in the premium segment too.
The Indian market is the third largest market for Hyundai in the world after China and US. Hyundai has also made India a major export hub and the company exports huge number of cars from the country around the world.
