The i20 has been a successful product for Hyundai India. This is the car that showed the Indian market that hatchbacks can be premium and can be bought instead of a sedan. The Elite has been on sale in the country for a few years now and it hasn’t received any update, save for the addition and deletion of some features here and there. Hyundai is now planning to tweak its i20 model line-up though and add some zing to it.
According to a report by Team Bhp. here are the changes that will be taking place:
The current Era trim, which is the base trim continues to remain the same. It is expected to have an attractive starting price, if the Hyundai report is to be believed. The higher Magna trim is where the changes will begin with. The Magna trim will be replaced by something called a Magna Executive trim, which will lose out a few features that the current Magna trim has, like key-less entry. The Sportz trim which also be losing a few features, like the rear parking camera and the sensors.
The Asta model will also lose a few features, like the auto headlamps, diamond cut alloys and the chrome out side door handles. The company will however add a touch screen infotainment system to the Asta with Apple Carplay, Android Auto and Mirrorlink. It will also feature a reverse camera. An all-new variant called the Asta ‘Style pack’ will be unveiled, based on the Asta trim which will feature dual tone paint scheme, black interiors with orange highlights and 16″ diamond cut alloys. The Asta (O) remains the same without any changes.
The company will continue to offer the same engine options on the i20. So you will have the 1.2 liter petrol making 82 Bhp and 115 Nm where as the diesel is the 1.4 liter unit making 89 Bhp and 220 Nm. There is also a 1.4 liter automatic version of offer which produces 99 Bhp and 132 Nm, however that comes only on the Magna trim.
Hyundai is yet to launch the vehicle, which is when we will know about the pricing of the same.
