The new budget car will be a hatchback, and is expected to use the Santro brand name. The car will be sold with a petrol engine. The actual launch will happen in the middle of 2018. The Auto Expo will be used to showcase it and build buzz around it.

The new hatchback will sit in between the Eon and Grand i10 in terms of pricing and positioning. It will also be the first Hyundai car to get an automated manual transmission. This AMT will eventually be offered on other budget Hyundai cars sold in India.

The electric sedan that Hyundai will showcase will be a concept though. The production version of this sedan will come to India in the coming years. Hyundai has revealed that it will launch electric cars in India instead of hybrids as the government here wants to totally shift to electric cars by 2030.

More details about this electric car are expected to be revealed in the coming days. Other new cars Hyundai could showcase at the Auto Expo include the facelifted versions of the i20 Elite and the Creta. In fact, the i20 Elite Facelift may be launched at the Auto Expo.

However, the facelifted Creta will be launched only in the second half of the year. Both the facelifted cars are not expected to get major mechanical changes. The changes will be limited to cosmetic makeovers and feature additions. Hyundai could also showcase the Kona electric SUV at the Auto Expo as this is one vehicle that is slated to be launched in India during 2019.
