Hyundai Venue blasts past 50,000 bookings mark in just 2 months: DCT turbo petrol in BIG demand

The Hyundai Venue is on a roll. The first sub-4 meter compact SUV from the South Korean automaker has clocked no less than 50,000 bookings in just 2 months of launch. Sales have been very strong right from the outset, what with the Hyundai Venue breathing down the neck of the market leader – the Maruti Vitara Brezza in June 2019 sales. If the Venue manages its strong sales growth in July as well, we won’t be too surprised to see the Maruti Brezza being ousted from its top perch. This is highly likely as the Venue offers multiple petrol engined variants in a market that is clearly moving towards petrol engines especially in the sub-4 meter compact car segments. The Maruti Vitara Brezza, in contrast, continues to be a diesel-only offering. There’s news of a facelifted version being readied up by Maruti Suzuki, and it couldn’t come too soon. Maruti is also said to be working on a petrol engined Brezza, which could be launched through the facelift.

The Hyundai VENUE has been able to strike a chord with the iGen customers who seek future technology, Space, Comfort, Safety and Ergonomics with new age style. We are extremely overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response and milestone created by VENUE with 50,000 bookings within sixty days of launch. We are glad that Indian customers have shown their faith in the Blue Link Connected Technology as out of the total VENUE delivered so far, over 55% of the cars are Blue Link Enabled Variant. Out of the 50,000 bookings, over 35% of customers have preferred the Hyundai’s in house Best in Segment -DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) Technology. Our SUV market share is 21% with the combined sales of VENUE, CRETA and TUCSON.

Hyundai stunned the market a couple of months ago by launching the Venue at a very competitive price tag of Rs. 6.5 lakhs for the base petrol model. The compact SUV also packed plenty of best-in-class features including remote start, AC control and many such ‘connected car’ features. Top-end trims of the Venue offer an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, automatic wipers and headlamps, air purifier and more. The compact SUV is offered with 1.2 liter-4 cylinder naturally aspirated petrol (82 Bhp-114 Nm) and 1 liter-3 cylinder turbocharged petrol (118 Bhp-172 Nm) engines. The diesel engine is a 1.4 liter turbocharged unit with 89 Bhp-220 Nm and a 6 speed manual gearbox. While the naturally aspirated petrol motor is paired to a 5 speed manual gearbox, the turbocharged engine gets 6 speed manual and 7 speed twin clutch automatic gearboxes. 35% of buyers have opted for the twin clutch (DCT) gearbox equipped turbo petrol Venue.
