Hyundai Venue is the latest car to enter the sub-4m compact SUV segment. It is already gaining a lot of popularity in the segment and has already received more than 20,000 bookings officially. However, there are many who have shown concerns about the rear seat space in the car. Well, here is a video that compares the Hyundai Venue’s rear seat space with a measuring tape with the competitors like the Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The Tata Nexon is missing from the list but the video talks about the space in Hyundai Creta too.
The video put up by Car News – By HotShotInfo measures the rear space of the cars by adjusting the seat in different positions. The video also mentions about the width of the seats of all the vehicles tested in the video. The measurements are taken by the same person so we can expect some consistency in the readings.
The first car in the video shows the measurement of the Hyundai Venue. The rear space of the car is first checked with the co-driver seat pushed completely to the front. The Venue offers a total of 9-inch of space between the knee and the seat in the front with the seat in chauffeur-drive position. Later, the front seat is positioned to provide ample space for the front passenger. This decreases the rear legroom by half and it now offers 4.5-inch of space. With the front seat fully pushed back, there’s almost no space between the knee and the front seat backrest. The Hyundai Venue offers a seat width of 45-inches.
The second car in the video is of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and with the front seat fully pushed forward, it gets a space of 8-inches. With the front seat set in a comfortable position for the driver, space decreases to 4.5-inches. When the seat is completely pushed back, a width of only one finger remains. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza offers a 50-inch rear seat width.
Ford EcoSport, which was once a very popular car in the segment offers the maximum space of 8-inches while positioning the front seat more comfortable, space comes down to 4.5inches. It gets a seat width of 47-inches. There is no space between the finger and the seat when the seat is pushed back completely.
Hyundai Creta, which belongs from a higher segment offers ample of space inside the car. When the vehicle’s front seat in full forward mode, the rear seat offers a maximum knee room of 10-inches. Bringing the seat to a comfortable position will change the humongous 10-inch measurement to a lower of 6-inches. However, when the seat is retracted to the back completely, there is only a space of one finger between the knee and the seat.
Mahindra XUV300, which boasts of the longest wheelbase in the segment is also the king of the rear space. The Mahindra XUV300 offers a maximum space of 14-inches with the seat completely pushed in the forward position. There is still a space of 7-inches when the front seat was set as comfortable for the driver. Even with the seat of Mahindra XUV300 completely pushed back, there was a space of 4-inches remaining in the rear seat of the vehicle.
