Hyundai Venue bags 17,000 bookings; 80,000 customers express interest

The Venue sub-4 meter compact SUV could be the automaker’s biggest success in recent times. The automaker has clocked a whopping 17,000 bookings for its latest vehicle, and over 80,000 customers have expressed interest in buying one. Hyundai dealerships across the country are witnessing massive footfalls from people interested in checking out the automaker’s first sub-4 meter compact SUV.

The Venue rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the Ford EcoSport, the Tata Nexon and the Mahindra XUV300 in the compact SUV segment that’s getting crowded each passing year. Hyundai estimates sales of 8,000-10,000 units from the Venue, which has been very competitively priced, what with the base variant starting at just Rs. 6.5 lakhs.

Coming back to the Rs. 6.5 lakh starting price tag, it makes the Venue only Rs. 2,000 pricier than the cheapest SUV in the segment – the Tata Nexon. The Venue is also one of the most technology and feature packed SUVs in its segment. An electric sunroof, built-in air purifier, a range of connectivity options thanks to the on-board sim card, a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push button start, keyless entry, automatic climate control, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, cruise control, 6 airbags, hill hold, ESP and ABS are the key features offered on the SUV. The Venue also gets class leading mechanical bits.

Talking of which, the 7 speed twin clutch automatic gearbox is a unique option on the Venue, one that none of its competitors offer. This gearbox is offered with the 1 liter-3 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that makes 118 Bhp-172 Nm. The same engine is also offered with a 6 speed manual gearbox. Other engines and gearboxes offered with the Venue include a 1.2 liter-4 cylinder naturally aspirated petrol unit with 82 Bhp-114 Nm and a 5 speed manual gearbox, and a 1.4 liter turbo diesel with 89 Bhp-220 Nm, and a 6 speed manual gearbox. All variants of the Venue are front wheel driven, and Hyundai has no plans to offer an all wheel drive layout even in future.
