Hyundai Venue Facelift spotted ahead of launch

Hyundai has started working on a facelift of their compact-SUV, Venue. The facelift will come with cosmetic changes only. It will retain most of its design characteristics and its engine options. The spy shots shown below are clicked in Korea. Venue’s facelift is expected to hit the Indian market sometime next year.

From the pictures, we can see it retains its split headlamp design. We can see the turn indicator strip above the main headlamp unit. The headlamp itself is still using a project setup. The bumper is expected to get a redesign and the grille will also be a new one. There will also be LED Daytime Running Lamps.

At the side, we can see some new alloy wheels. It continues to come with roof rails, black plastic cladding and LED turn indicators on outside rearview mirrors. Hyundai has made some changes to the tail lamps. They still use LED units but will not be square in design. Instead, the outer unit will be larger than the one mounted on the tailgate.

We expect some updates to the interior of the Venue’s facelift also. Hyundai will give a new upholstery design to the Venue and we might see some redesigned dashboard. The compact SUV might also come with a digital instrument cluster now and the manufacturer can also upgrade the touchscreen infotainment system.

Mechanical changes

There will be no changes to the engine or the gearbox of the Venue. So, it will continue to come with three engine options. There will be a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

The naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 83 PS of max power and 114 Nm. It is offered only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The diesel engine is derived from Seltos and has been detuned. It produces 100 PS of max power and 240 Nm of peak torque. It is offered only with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

If you want an automatic gearbox then you would have to step up to the turbocharged petrol engine that also comes with direct injection. There is a 6-speed iMT or intelligent Manual Transmission offered as standard. It is essentially a clutchless manual gearbox so you get the convenience of one-pedal driving and can also enjoy gear shifts. This engine is also offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The turbocharged engine itself produces 120 PS of max power and 172 Nm of peak torque.

Prices and rivals

Currently, the prices of Hyundai Venue starts at Rs. 6.99 lakhs ex-showroom and go up to Rs. 11.85 lakhs ex-showroom. It is offered in eight variants, namely E, S, S+, S(O), SX, SX(O) Executive, SX+, and SX(O). However, after the facelift, the prices of Venue are expected to increase.

Hyundai Venue competes against Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Kia Sonet, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and Ford Ecosport.
