We have come across several incidents in the past where the build quality of vehicles has saved the lives of occupants in accidents. Tata and Mahindra vehicles are often seen in the news for this reason. However, it appears that other manufacturers have also started taking the build quality of their vehicles seriously. We have come across multiple videos and images of Hyundai Venue in the past, where it saved occupants from major accidents. Here, we have one such video from Himachal Pradesh, where the driver lost control of the Hyundai Venue, and it fell about 150 feet. Fortunately, the driver escaped the accident with only minor injuries.
The video was uploaded by Nikhil Rana on his YouTube channel and shared with him by one of his subscribers, who happened to be the same person driving the car at the time of the accident. According to the driver, the accident happened in December last year while he was passing through Himachal Pradesh’s Simaur district at around 8:30 PM, and the road was not well lit.
The road where the accident occurred was under construction, and on one of the turns, loose gravel was lying on the road, which the driver failed to notice. The car was traveling at a speed of 40 kmph, and as soon as it drove over the gravel, it lost control, slipped off the road, and plunged about 150 feet. Thankfully, the driver was wearing a seat belt and was alone in the car. The car hit a walnut tree during the fall, which brought it to a stop. Fortunately, the airbags deployed upon impact, saving the driver from serious injuries, though he did sustain some minor injuries.
As seen in the pictures, the front and rear of the Hyundai Venue were damaged in the accident, with the loose gravel on the road being the main cause. Most hill roads do not have adequate lighting at night, creating issues for road users. This is also a reason why driving or riding at night on hills is not recommended. Furthermore, there is a risk of rolling stones in these regions, which have caused damage to cars and injured people in the past. This risk increases during rainy weather.
The person in the Hyundai Venue was extremely lucky to have escaped the accident with only minor injuries. The customer even shared pictures where a tow truck is seen winching the SUV up the hill. Even after falling about 150 feet, the cabin of the Venue looks intact. The driver emphasizes the need to be extremely careful while driving on hills, always wear seat belts, and avoid driving on hilly roads at night if possible. This is not the first time, we have come across an incident like this. Last month, a Tata Altroz driven by a lady driver fell from a bridge that was under construction in Maharashtra. The car fell around 180 feet below. Usually in such cases, the occupants sustain serious injuries however the lady driving the car miraculously escaped the accident without any injuries.
