They have now launched this highly anticipated feature in the Venue. The iMT is available only with the 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine version. Along with the iMT feature, Hyundai has also launched a sport trim in Venue. The iMT is available in SX and SX(O) variants of the 1.0 litre turbo petrol engined Venue, and is priced at Rs 9,99,990, ex-showroom and Rs 11,08,500, ex-showroom respectively.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr SS Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd., said,

Hyundai has consistently set the benchmark with new Products and Technologies that offer Superior Design, Comfort, Performance and Efficiency. VENUE – India’s First Connected and most awarded SUV of 2019-2020, has now been launched with the innovative Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) and Sport Trim. With this, we are once again setting new standards for the industry that will enhance Customer Delight and revolutionize the way India Drives.

With the introdution of iMT technology in Venue, Hyundai is offering revolutionary new, clutch pedal-free iMT technology on its 1.0 turbo petrol BS6 engine mated to 6-Speed Manual Transmission that features an electro-mechanically actuated clutch. The system has been designed to offer a seamless Drive Experience by incorporating a cohesive logic between the various components on manual transmission.

How does it work

  • Transmission Control Unit receives signal from Transmission Gear Shift Lever Intention Sensor, indicating driver’s desire to change gears.
  • Transmission Control Unit sends signal to engage Hydraulic Actuator forming Hydraulic Pressure.
  • Hydraulic Pressure is then sent to Concentric Slave Cylinder (CSC) through Clutch Tube.
  • Concentric Slave Cylinder uses this pressure to control the clutch and pressure plate, thereby engaging and disengaging the clutch.
  • Driver is able to seamlessly shift gears without the need to mechanically operate clutch pedal.

Along with the iMT version, Hyundai has also launched Sport trim for Venue. It is available with the 1.0 litre turbo petrol and 1.5 litre diesel engine. In comparison to the regular Venue, Sport Trims gets dual tone exterior, Sport emblem, red brake calipers, glossy black front grille with red insert, red inserts on wheel arches and side molding, red stitching on upholstery, red accents on knobs and gear lever and so on.

Hyundai has also added paddle shifters in the 7-speed DCT version of Venue SUV. Sport trim is available only in SX, SX(O) and SX+ trims of Venue. Looking at customer demand, Hyundai has also introduced S+ trim in 1.2 litre petrol version Venue. It is priced at Rs 8,31,900 and is equipped with features like projector type headlamps & fog lamps,LED tail lamps, touchscreen infotainment screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
