2020 Hyundai Verna gets more affordable with a new base variant

Hyundai has introduced a new base variant of the Hyundai Verna days after a similar variant was introduced to the Creta’s line-up. The new variant, which is named as E will be the most affordable variant of the Hyundai Creta. It is available with the petrol engine option.

According to MyCarHelpline, the new Hyundai Verna E petrol carries a price tag of Rs 9.02 lakh, which makes it cheaper by about Rs 38,000 compared to the existing most affordable variant. The feature list of the Hyundai Verna E remains similar to the Hyundai Verna S apart from a few missing features. The Verna E does not get a sunglass holder, there is no USB charging in the front and there is no music system too.

The variant is only available with the 1.5-litre petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 115 PS and peak torque of 144 Nm. It gets a 6-speed manual transmission. The Verna S, which was the previous base variant of the sedan offers a touchscreen infotainment system. The E variant will allow the customers to install customised infotainment system as per their preference and save money.

There are no other changes to the vehicle’s exterior and interior visually when compared to the Verna S. The base version will continue to offer manual climate control system, rear AC vents, one-touch driver window down, remote central locking, cooled glove box, clutch footrest, electrically adjustable ORVM with integrated turn indicators, steering-mounted audio and phone controls, adjustable head restraints, MID display and more. Even the safety features remain similar to the Verna S variant. The customers will get dual front airbags, engine immobilizer, seatbelt pre-tensioner with load limiter, smart warning indicators, impact sensing automatic door unlock, speed sensing automatic door lock and anti-t theft alarm system.

The Hyundai Verna takes on the likes of Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and even the Skoda Rapid. The Skoda Rapid is currently the most affordable car in the segment with a price of Rs 7.99 lakh, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz’s base model is priced at Rs 8.32 lakh while the Honda City is priced at Rs 9.29 lakh.

Hyundai introduced a new variant of the Creta in a similar fashion a few days ago. The move will allow customers who prefer to install their own music system to save a lot of money. Hyundai is also working on the launch of the all-new Elite i20 and it is expected to be launched in the festive season!
