Hyundai Verna becomes India’s top selling mid-size sedan in July 2023

The popularity of SUVs has been on the rise around the world. Many car manufacturers have even shifted their focus from hatchbacks and started building crossovers and SUVs. The rising demand for compact SUVs has always been a threat to sedans. However, there are manufacturers who still continue to offer sedans in the market. In India, things are no different. These sedans have not only survived in the market but have also done pretty well in terms of sales. As per the July 2023 sales reports, the Hyundai Verna is the top-selling mid-size sedan in the country.

The Hyundai Verna has always been a very popular sedan in its segment. This segment consists of cars like the Honda City, Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus, and also the Maruti Ciaz. The Hyundai Verna is the most recent car in the segment to receive an update, and it is also the most feature-loaded car here. Hyundai has managed to sell 2,858 units of the Verna in the month of July. In the same month last year, Hyundai sold 1,870 units of the Verna, which was the previous generation model. Hyundai managed to sell 988 units more compared to the previous year, resulting in a 52.83 percent increase in sales compared to July 2022.

Other manufacturers like Volkswagen, Skoda, Honda, and Maruti did not perform very well. In fact, Volkswagen performed better than the Honda City sedan. Volkswagen sold 1,737 units of the Virtus sedan in July 2023, which is 399 units more than what they sold in July 2022. The Skoda Slavia saw a drop of -12.72 percent, the Honda City saw a -53.06 percent, and the Maruti Ciaz saw 2.25 percent fewer sales compared to the previous year.

Why Hyundai Verna is the Best Seller

As mentioned above, the Hyundai Verna is the most recent car in its segment to receive an update. Like any other Hyundai model, the Verna comes with several features. The exterior design of the car has been completely redone. The current generation Verna gets a futuristic design with a sleek LED DRL running across the width of the car. There is a parametric grille, all-LED tail lamps with a connecting LED bar, and also features like machine-cut alloy wheels.

The Hyundai Creta is available with both turbo and non-turbo petrol engines. The turbocharged variants get an all-black color scheme with red highlights on the AC vents. The naturally-aspirated variants come with a dual-tone black and beige dashboard and seats. The car also comes with a two-spoke steering wheel, which is a first in the segment and also looks quite sporty. The AC vents are seamlessly integrated into the dashboard.

The all-new Verna comes with 10.25-inch dual screens; one of them works as an infotainment system and the other as an instrument cluster. The Verna also comes with features like multiple driving modes, parking assist features, and ventilated front seats. The Hyundai Verna also offers ADAS, which has become a very common feature in affordable cars. Mahindra XUV700 started this trend by bringing this premium feature into affordable cars. Other manufacturers followed the same path, and it looks like this has become one of the most popular features in cars. Along with competitive pricing and a wide service network, this has allowed the Hyundai Verna to perform well in this segment.
