On 11th May, Hyundai launched the fluidic Verna with prices starting from Rs. 6.99 lakh. The Verna is loaded with lots of features and gadgets and some of them are not found in other cars in its segment. Here we take a closer look at what each variant of Verna offers us and what it costs across five major Indian cities.
The Verna is available in four engine options: 1.4-litre petrol, 1.6-litre petrol, 1.4-litre diesel and 1.6-litre diesel. The 1.4-litre petrol engine puts out 105.5 bhp of max power and 137.7 Nm of max torque while the 1.4-litre diesel engine puts out 88.77 bhp of peak power and 220 Nm of peak torque.
The 1.6-litre engine puts out 121.36 bhp of max power and 155 Nm of max torque while the 1.6-litre VGT diesel motor puts out 126.33 bhp of peak power and 260 Nm of max torque. The 1.6-litre engines of the Verna is powerful than its rivals such as the Honda City, Volkswagen Vento and the Maruti Suzuki SX4.
The ARAI-certified mileage for the 1.4 petrol motor is 17.43 kmpl and that of 1.4 diesel motor is 23.5 kmpl. The 1.4 litre engines are mated to 5-speed manual transmission. The ARAI-certified mileage for the 1.6 litre petrol motor is 17 kmpl and that of 1.6 litre diesel motor is 22.32 kmpl. The 1.6 litre engines are mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed auto transmission depending on the variant.
The new Hyundai Verna boasts of a “fluidic” design, the hexagonal grille, headlamps and bumpers give it an aggressive look. From the side, the rising waist line makes the car look aerodynamic while the drooping roofline at the rear renders a coupe-like feel. Viewed from the rear, the Hyundai Verna is proportionate and has a neat chrome garnish and wrap around tail lamps. Let’s look at what each variant offers.
Verna 1.4 VTVT (Rs.6.99 lakh) and Verna 1.4 CRDi (Rs. 8.09 lakh)
The base variant of the Verna does not get music system, airbags, ABS, rear disc brakes and chrome interiors. The following are the features offered in the base variant.

Verna 1.6 VTVT (Rs.7.69 lakh) and 1.6 CRDi VGT (Rs.8.89 lakh)
The mid trim variant is equipped with driver airbag, rear disc brakes, impact sensing door unlock, rear defogger with timer, two tone chrome rear garnish, high gloss black & wood grain interiors and power windows with driver side auto down (Time lag).
Further, on the interior, the mid trim variant is equipped with chrome interior package, rear parking sensors, auto AC, clean air (Cluster Ionizer), sunglass holder, theater dimming interior lamp, tilt adjustable driver seat, iPod Cable and steering mounted audio controls.

The SX variant of the new Verna has all the features of lower variants and also gets dual airbags, R 16 alloy wheels, supervision cluster, rear view camera, electro-chromic (Auto dim) inside rear view mirror, electrically foldable outside mirror, cooled glove box, luggage net & hook and adjustable rear headrest

Hyundai offers the top end variant (SX) with optional package (O) that includes side and curtain airbags, speed sensing door locks, chrome outside door handles, smart key with illuminated start button and leather upholstery.
