The Hyundai Verna is the most powerful diesel car in the C-segment sedan game. Along with being a stylish looking car, the Verna packs in a decent punch when it comes to acceleration and top end power. If not for its dead steering response, it would have made into a good driver’s car. Moving on, we are today here to see which among the four cars in the video below is the fastest in a drag race. The cars in question are the Ford Freestyle, Volkswagen Vento Diesel and petrol, and Hyundai Verna. Let’s now take a look at the video below by Deep C 6 before moving towards the results.
As seen in the video, the Hyundai Verna turns out to be the overall winner in the mega drag competition. The Verna here is powered by a 1.6-litre diesel engine that comes mated to a manual gearbox. This engine pumps out 126 Bhp of power along with 260 Nm of torque. The kerb weight of the car is around 1170 Kg. The Vento, on the other hand, are both in diesel and petrol guise. The Vento TDi is powered by a 1.6-litre engine and gets a manual transmission. This engine puts out 108 Bhp of power along with 250 Nm of torque while the kerb weight of the car is around 1208 kg.
The petrol powered Vento, on the other hand, is powered by a 1.2-litre engine and comes with a 7-speed DSG box. This engine churns out 103 Bhp of power along with 175 Nm of torque while the car has a kerb weight of nearly 1174 kg. Lastly, the Ford Freestyle here is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine that comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine on the Freestyle produces 99 Bhp of power along with 215 Nm of torque and the kerb weight of the car is around 1062 kg. This makes the Hyundai Verna the most powerful car here while the Freestyle being a hatchback is the lightest car here.
As already mentioned, the Verna comes out to be the overall champion here. It is often said that there is no replacement for displacement and that has been proven right by the Hyundai Verna in these drag races. The Ford Freestyle gave the Verna some competition in the second round but eventually was left behind as the 100 km/h speed mark was crossed. In the first round, the Freestyle had a late start and hence was left quite behind for the remaining portion of the race. While the Vento petrol didn’t really provide any challenge to the Verna, losing by quite a margin in both the rounds, the Vento diesel did keep up with the Verna for some time. However, a few seconds in the race and even the Vento diesel was smoked by the Hyundai Verna.
