To encourage sales during the festive season, India’s second largest car maker Hyundai, has lined up big discount on almost every car in its range here. Except for the newly launched Verna sedan, and the best-selling Creta compact SUV, every Hyundai sold in India has massive discounts on it. It’s a great time to go car shopping. Here are model-wise discounts.
Eon
The smallest, and lowest priced Hyundai – the Eon – has an impressive discount of 75,000 rupees. It involves a cash discount of Rs. 50,000 and an exchange bonus of Rs. 25,000. The Eon competes with the Maruti Alto and the Renault Kwid. Prices start from Rs. 3.32 lakh rupees, and the car is available with 800 cc and 1 liter petrol engines. A 5 speed manual gearbox is standard on both engines.
Grand i10
The Grand is another popular Hyundai that sells almost 10,000 units per month. It’s currently on a large discount. The petrol version commands a discount of Rs. 75,000 (Rs. 50,000 cash discount + Rs. 25,000 exchange bonus) and the diesel version is available with a discount of Rs. 85,000 (Rs. 50,000 cash discount + Rs. 35,000 exchange bonus). The hatchback competes with the Maruti Swift and the Ford Figo. Prices start from Rs. 4.56 lakhs. The car is available with petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine gets 5 speed manual and automatic gearbox options while the diesel motor makes do with a 5 speed manual gearbox.
Xcent
The Xcent is Hyundai’s compact sedan for the Indian market. Both petrol and diesel variants of the car are available at discounts of Rs. 45,000 (Rs. 20,000 cash discount + Rs. 25,000 exchange bonus). The Xcent is now mainly preferred by cab operators. The car shares its engine and transmission options with the Grand i1o. Prices start from 5.33 lakh rupees. Competitors include the Maruti Dzire, the Tata Tigor, the Volkswagen Ameo and the Ford Figo Aspire.
i20/i20 Active
A Baleno competitor, the i20 is a hot seller. The car is available with an exchange bonus of Rs. 20,000. All variants of the i20 line up get this discount. The car is sold with 1.2 liter (82 Bhp-115 Nm) and 1.4 liter (99 Bhp-132 Nm) petrols, and a 1.4 liter diesel engine (89 Bhp-220 Nm). The 1.2 liter petrol and 1.4 liter diesel get 5 speed and 6 speed manual gearboxes respectively. The 1.4 liter petrol gets a 4 speed automatic gearbox. Prices start from 5.32 lakhs.
Elantra
The Elantra is arguably one of India’s best looking, affordable full-size sedans. Hyundai is offering 1 lakh rupees off on the 2016 model year (Elantras produced last year but unsold till now) Elantra. Prices start from 12.99 lakhs, and the car competes with the Toyota Corolla Altis and the Skoda Octavia. It is sold with 2 liter petrol and 1.6 liter diesel engines. The petrol motor makes 150 Bhp-192 Nm while the diesel engine manages 126 Bhp-260 Nm. Both engines get 6 speed manual and automatic gearbox options.
Tucson
The Tucson is a 5 seat soft-roader whose competitors include the Jeep Compass and the Honda CR-V. 2016 model year Tucsons are now at a discount of 1 lakh rupees. 2017 model year Tucsons can be had with a 70,000 rupee exchange bonus. Available with petrol and diesel engines, the SUV’s prices start from 18.78 lakhs. The SUV shares its petrol engine and gearbox options with the Elantra. The diesel engine is a larger, 2 liter unit with 182 Bhp-400 Nm on tap. 6 speed manual and automatic transmissions are available on the diesel engine as well.
Santa Fe
The range-topping Santa Fe has been recently discontinued, and a fire sale is now on. That explains the 2.5 lakh rupee discount (Rs. 50,000 cash discount and Rs. 2 lakh exchange bonus) on this SUV. The Santa Fe competes with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. It’s a diesel-only SUV with a 2.2 liter turbo diesel engine making 194 Bhp-437 Nm. Both manual and automatic gearboxes were offered, along with front wheel drive and all wheel drive options.
