Jeep India has launched the made-in-India Wrangler today. With the locally assembled model, the Wrangler’s base price is now Rs 53.9 lakh compared to Rs 63.94 lakh of the fully-imported CBU version. The top-end Wrangler Rubicon now costs Rs 57.9 lakh compared to Rs 68.4 lakh earlier. With the lower duties due to the CKD or completely knocked down import, the Wrangler has become much more affordable for many.
India assembled Jeep Wrangler is the five-door version of the SUV. The three-door version will not be available in the market, just like the 2020 model in India. The engine and the powertrain remain unchanged. It still draws power from a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The four-cylinder engine generates a maximum power of 268 PS and a peak torque of 400 Nm. It gets an 8-speed torque converter as standard. It is the only engine and transmission option that are available with the made-in-India Wrangler.

Commenting on the market launch of the locally-assembled Jeep Wrangler, Dr Partha Datta – Jeep India Managing Director said,

We have extended our points of sale and service for the locally-assembled Wrangler to 26 across the country. The Jeep Wrangler remains a hardcore off-roader. It gets the ‘Selec-Trac’ full-time 4WD system, with a 2.272:1 crawl ratio. Even the suspension is heavy-duty in the base variant. The top-end Unlimited version gets the ‘Rock-Trac’ full-time 4WD system. It boasts of 4:1 crawl ratio, electronically locking front and rear differentials, electronically-operated sway bar and performance suspension system. Both the variants look very similar to each other but the Unlimited variant gets a different set of 18-inch alloy wheels with different tyres. The Rubicon gets higher ground clearance, and better approach angle, ramp break-over angle and departure angles.
The Jeep Wrangler also offers all-LED headlamps and DRLs. LED fog lamps, leather upholstery, 7.0-inch coloured MID screen in the instrument cluster, 8.4-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry/start, and more. The vehicle also gets framed removable doors. Jeep offers the locally-assembled Wrangler in five colours – Bright White, Sting Grey, Granite Crystal, Black and Firecracker Red.
Jeep recently launched the refreshed version of the Compass in the Indian market. Next, the American SUV manufacturer is likely to launch the seven-seater SUV based on the Compass in the market.
