Audi, the Volkswagen group owned German luxury car marque, has just unveiled the facelifted version of its popular A6 luxury sedan. The facelift comes as a mid-life refresh for the car, replete with mild detailing changes to differentiate the facelifted version from the outgoing model. Changes to the 2015 A6 sedan encompass styling, equipment and the mechanicals.
On the outside, the 2015 A6 gets a refreshed front fascia with new air dams and a tweaked grille. The headlamps now feature Matrix LEDs as an optional extra. The side profile of the facelifted car is unchanged but for the revised side sills while the tail lamps see a refresh with “sweeping indicators” that accentuates the aesthetic appeal of the car’s derriere that also sees a re-profiled bumper and new exhaust finishers.
As you step inside, you’ll notice that the 2015 A6 now gets an 8 inch touchscreen with a Multi-Media Interface (MMI) Navigation Plus infotainment module, instead of the outgoing version’s 6.5 inch unit. The infotainment unit also uses a Nvidia graphics card for sharper performance. The MMI touch interface is standard, with built-in scroll and zoom for maps.
The engine line up of the 2015 A6 sedan see changes with respect to lowering of tail pipe emissions. The 1. 8 litre TFSI motor replaces the 2 liter TFSI mill while the 2 liter TDI and 3 liter TDI (218 hp and 272 hp states of tune) turbo diesel units are retained, albeit with power and torque changes. For the Indian market, expect the 1.8 liter TFSI turbo petrol, the 2 liter and 3 liter TDI turbo diesel motors to be the major engine offerings, along with an all-automatic gearbox line up.
Both front wheel drive and Quattro all-wheel drive options are expected to be offered on the 2015 A6 luxury sedan. The current A6 sedan, which is CKD assembled at Audi’s Aurangabad facility, is expected to make way to the new model by the middle of next year. Prices of the 2015 A6 sedan are expected to remain similar to that of the outgoing model. Expect to shell out about 42 lakh rupees for the base, turbo petrol variant of the 2015 A6 sedan.
