The 2015 Ford Endeavour luxury SUV will be in India by the end of this year. Before the SUV arrives in the flesh, here are its technical specifications, which have just leaked onto the interweb. The 2015 Endeavour sold internationally will be available with three engines, two diesel and one petrol. For India though, the 2.2 liter-4 cylinder and 3.2 liter-5 cylinder turbo diesel motors are likely to make the cut.
The smaller diesel motor makes 148 Bhp-385 Nm while the larger, five potter ups the outputs to 197 Bhp-470 Nm, making the SUV a segment leader in torque terms. Six speed manual and automatic transmissions will be offered with both engines. While a rear wheel drive layout will be standard, Ford will also offer its latest SUV with an all wheel drive layout with the Terrain Sensing feature, a-la-Land Rover. India is likely to get both the rear and all wheel drive layouts.

The 2015 Endeavour retains a ladder frame chassis layout, although dimensions of the new model are smaller than the outgoing version. The new version measures 4,882 mm in length, 1,862 mm in width, 1,836 mm in height and gets a 2,850 mm wheelbase. The current model is slightly larger in terms of exterior dimensions, with a 5,060 mm length, 1,788 mm width, 1,826 mm height and 2,860 mm wheelbase.
Also, the new Endeavour, with a supposed kerb weight of 2,370 kilograms, is heftier than the outgoing model, which tips scales at 2,014 kilograms. Now it remains to be seen if the listed weight for the new SUV represents laden or unladen weight. While the extra weight does seem surprising as newer cars usually weigh lower than the ones they replace, this also seems to explain the significant power and torque boosts that the new model has received.
All you need to know – 2015 Ford Endeavour
The 2015 Endeavour also gets completely revamped interiors with a richer feature set, in keeping with the times. The outgoing model was distinctly long in the tooth in its latter years, and the new version’s revised looks and features is just the correction the brand required. Ford will assemble the new luxury SUV at its Maramalainagar factory near Chennai through the CKD kit route. The American car and SUV maker is expected to price the new vehicle between the Toyota Fortuner and the Hyundai Santa Fe.
