Earlier this year, Skoda India revealed their upcoming mid-size SUV Kushaq for Indian market. The manufacturer has present in Indian market for quite some time and they have have several models in their portfolio. Skoda had a 7-seater SUV, Kodiaq in the market but, unfortunately due BS6 emission norms that was discontinued. Now the manufacturer has revealed sketches of the 2021 version of the Skoda Kodiaq and the same is expected to be launched in India as well. The Skoda Kodiaq when launched will be the flagship SUV for the brand. Now, Skoda has officially unveiled the 2021 version of Kodiaq in international markets and here is what all has changed on the SUV.
Skoda has made several changes to the SUV to give it a fresh look. Starting with the front, Kodiaq gets Skoda’s signature butterfly grille with logo on the bonnet. The headlights continue to be sleek but, they have been slightly redesigned and look better than before. Kodiaq now gets full LED matrix headlights and LED DRLs are integrated in it. Just like the pre-facelift version, the fog lamps are positioned under the headlights and they are LED too.
The front bumper on the SUV continues to offer a muscular look with black honey comb design on the lower part of the bumper. Coming to the side profile, the overall design of the car looks the same as before. There are large 20 inches dual tone machine cut alloy wheels which enhances the overall look of the car. The rear profile of the car reveals redesigned LED tail lights, redesigned bumpers and a roof mounted spoiler.
Moving inside, the cabin, the overall look and feel of the cabin remains the same as before but, the manufacturer has made some cosmetic changes to enhance the overall look. It gets a two spoke steering wheel with multi-function buttons on it. It now gets a large 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster or Virtual Cockpit as Skoda likes to call it. There is a 9.2 inch touchscreen infotainment screen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Skoda is also offering something called ergonomic seats. This is basically an option where the seats get the heated and ventilation features and also massage function. It also gets memory function.
It will also offer many other features like ambient lighting, premium speaker system from Canton, sunroof and so on. Coming to the engine, Skoda is offering two diesel and three petrol engine options internationally. In India, like any other vehicle from the brand, it is possible that Skoda might only offer petrol engines with 2021 Kodiaq. There will be a 2.0 litre TSI petrol engine generating 190 Ps and 320 Nm of torque. This will be mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. There is even possibility that Skoda might offer a 1.5 litre TSI motor for the front wheel drive version. Skoda Kodiaq is expected to hit Indian shores by the end of this year. It is a 7-seater SUV and will compete with cars like Tiguan AllSpace, Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster in the segment
