Sub 4-meter SUV: Maruti Vitara Brezza
The Maruti Vitara Brezza may seem handicapped due to the unavailability of the petrol engine and automatic transmission but it is the top-selling vehicle in the segment. Maruti sold 140,945 units of the Vitara Brezza in the calendar year of 2017. It is more than three times the number of units of the vehicle in the second position, which is a Ford EcoSport (45,146 units).
The sub 4-meter compact SUV segment was booming when Brezza entered the market and captured the audience. The affordable price tag, dependable diesel engine, low running costs and the Maruti’s trusted network proved to be a success recipe for Maruti.
Mid-size SUVs: Hyundai Creta
Hyundai Creta has proved to be a massive success for Hyundai in India. The South Korean manufacturer has sold 1,05,484 units of the Creta in 2017, which is more than double than the Mahindra Scorpio which sold 52,103 units at the same time.
The Creta proves to be so successful because of its size, which is quite comfortable for the average family size. The car also offers good looks, powerful engine options and a long list of features that make it a winning product.
Mahindra XUV 500
The Mahindra XUV 500 has been around for years now. The SUV is the best selling vehicle among all the cars sold in the segment. Mahindra sold 26,626 units of the XUV 500 last year, which is more than 2,000 units per month on an average.
The XUV 500’s popularity can be credited to its overwhelming looks and a long list of features. The XUV 500 is the only vehicle in the segment to provide a sunroof, which also attracts a lot of customers. Mahindra also offers an automatic and a 4X4 version of the vehicle further making it popular among the enthusiasts and luxury lovers.
Toyota Fortuner
Toyota Fortuner is the undisputed king of the luxury segment. The Japanese product is the most expensive SUV that carries the Toyota badge. Toyota sold 24,383 uits of the Fortuner in the 2017 Calender year making it extremely popular and outselling the rivals by a huge margin.
The futuristic look of the vehicle along with the reliability of Toyota and a well-spread service network are the primary factors behind the success of the Fortuner. Other factors like a good service backup and a wide choice of options make the Fortuner an extremely high rated and high selling product.
Audi Q7
Audi Q7 the highest selling SUV from the super premium segment. Audi’s cult in India, especially in the Tier-II cities has made the flagship SUV from the German brand quite popular. Audi’s signature DRLs and value of money and low ownership cost has made the Q7 a bestseller in the segment.
