The Scorpio-N has become a raging success for Mahindra, with thousands of people now queuing up for the new SUV. The deliveries of the Mahindra Scorpio-N have begun in India, and since it is going to become a common sight on the roads in the days to come, many people have started to customize their Scorpio-Ns. In an attempt to make his Scorpio-N look distinctive, one such owner has customized his SUV with a different type of matt paint protection film (PPF), thus making his Scorpio-N a one-of-its-kind.

In a YouTube video from Arun Panwar, we can see a Napoli Black-coloured Mahindra Scorpio-N being treated with a satin matt paint protection film. With this new kind of film, the Scorpio-N now looks more sinister in its visual appeal, as the SUV now has a matt black appearance to it. This particular Mahindra Scorpio-N is said to be the first Scorpio-N of India to have a matt black look to it.

The entire work of covering this Mahindra Scorpio-N with the new matt PPF has been executed by Delhi NCR-based Wrapaholix. While many people might be confusing this particular type of matt PPF, the owner of Wrapaholix, Mr Rahul, confirms that this is a new type of matt PPF, in which the outer film has a satin finish to it, thus emitting a different kind of shine under light. This matt PPF job cost the owner of this Scorpio-N around Rs 65,000.

2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N

The Mahindra Scorpio has always remained one of the few SUVs in India to have a rugged and sinister look at the same time. The Scorpio has always been preferred by its owners for its butch appeal, which gives it a striking road presence. The all-new Scorpio-N takes forward this legacy of the previous-generation Scorpio with a touch of luxury and elegance inside out. Among all the colours in which it is being offered, the Napoli Black colour is preferred by many for its ‘mafia look’.

The Mahindra Scorpio-N launched in India in July 2022, and since then, it has been shattering many records and has become a sales hit for Mahindra. The SUV is being offered in India with two engine options – a 2.0-litre 203 PS turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2-litre 175 PS diesel engine. Both these engine options are available with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options. In addition to these versions, the diesel version is also offered with an optional four-wheel-drive system.

Can you use a wrap on your car?

It lies in a grey area. The Indian authorities have banned changing the colour of the vehicle. If one changes the colour, it has to be endorsed on the registration certificate. However, wraps do not change the colour of the vehicle permanently. That is why the wraps lie in a grey area.

The Indian authorities take modifications on vehicles quite seriously in recent times. While there is no law in the book that talks about wraps, there is a section that talks about changing the original colour of the vehicle. Changing the original or stock colour of the vehicle is illegal in India. However, the cops in most states and union territories do not stop vehicles with different coloured wraps. If you have any experience, do share that same with us.

To be on the safer side, it is better to stick to the stock colour while choosing the wrap for the vehicle. Or if you wish, you can ask the local authorities like the RTO about the rule and get the same in writing. Wraps sure are a way to unlock the true creative potential, if they are legal.
