India’s first Mahindra Thar to reach Dubai via Carnet: This is it [Video]

Mahindra Thar is one of the most popular 4×4 SUV in the market currently. It has been in the news for its long waiting period several times. The SUV is so popular that there is currently a waiting period of almost an year on the SUV. Normally, we feature stories about modified Mahindra Thar SUVs but, here we have a very unique video. Normally people who are in Dubai bring vehicle to India via Carnet but, for a change couple of young people from India actually took their Mahindra Thar to Dubai.

The video is shared by Azlam Shah on their YouTube channel. In this video, vlogger talks to the owner of the Thar who brought Mahindra Thar to Dubai. It is probably the first Mahindra Thar to reach Dubai. The owner can be heard saying in the video that the SUV was actually brought to Dubai for a road trip. The owner and his friend have plans to explore United Arab Emirates and African countries by road on their Mahindra Thar.

The car is registered in Kerala and is probably the only one in Dubai. Vlogger then asks about the plan on how they are planning to do their trip. The owner then shows the Carnet paperwork of the passport for the car. The Carnet does not allow everyone to drive the car. The name of assigned driver and the owner of the car has been mentioned on the paperwork. This meant the vlogger or his friends could not actually drive the car.

They checked out how the Thar feels from inside and they also have a vinyl sticker on the body of the car showing the roadmap of their trip. The owner of the Mahindra Thar and his friend who are on the trip had already done an All-India trip last year. They mention that they have done minor modification at the rear of the car to convert rear seat into a bed during the trip.

The owner did not opt for any other vehicle because he wanted to do this road trip on a Made-in India vehicle. The car was shipped from Kerala to Dubai. The Mahindra Thar is a capable off-roader and we have seen several videos of the same. In comparison to the older generation Thar, the new one has improved a lot. The SUV now offers a lot more in terms of features and power.

Mahindra is offering two engine options with Mahindra Thar. There is a 2.0 litre mStallion turbo petrol engine that generates 150 Bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. The next engine is a 2.2 litre mHawk turbo diesel engine. This engine generates 130 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. The SUV seen here in the video is a turbo petrol variant. Both petrol and diesel automatic versions of Mahindra Thar are available with manual and automatic transmission option. All the variants of Mahindra Thar come with 4×4 as standard. Mahindra is currently working on couple of new models for Indian market. One of them is next-generation Scorpio. it is likely to be launched in the market next year. Mahindra is also said to be working on a much more practical 5-door version of Mahindra Thar.
