India’s first Maruti WagonR with an electric sunroof [video]

Maruti WagonR is a car that needs no introduction. It has been in the market for more than two decades and Maruti has been bringing necessary updates and features to the hatchback to maintain customer interest. It is a popular car among Indian customers and is one of the best selling car in its segment. The tall boy hatchback got a generation update in early 2019 and it now offers more space and features than before. We have seen several modifications for WagonR that are available in the market but, this is probably the first time, we are seeing an electric sunroof installed on a current generation WagonR.

The video has been uploaded by MIHIR GALAT on their YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger talks to the owner of Maruti WagonR who has done several modifications on it. The car seen here is a base model Maruti WagonR which comes with company fitted CNG. As we all know, it is not the most feature loaded car in the segment. The owner talks about all the modifications including the electric sunroof that he has installed himself.

The owner has a shop that deals in modification and customisation works. They already had all the tools to carry out this modification. When they thought of installing a sunroof, they did not go for any aftermarket brand. They went to a vehicles part market and purchased a used electric sunroof which was once installed in a Chevrolet Cruze sedan. After purchasing the sunroof, they took the car to their own workshop and cut the roof. They took the measurements and properly installed the electric sunroof to it.

Once they installed the sunroof, the owner sent the car out for painting and rest of the work. There are proper channels in the roof which allow excess water entering the roof to flow down, without leaking into the cabin. Other than the roof, WagonR also gets other modifications like LED lights in the headlamp. marker lamps in the front grille along with LED strobe lights. projector fog lamps have been installed in this car too. There are stickers installed on the bonnet to cover some scratches. Coming to the side profile, the car gets 15 inch aftermarket alloy wheels and Yokohama rubber. The tail lamps have been lightly smoked and a reverse parking camera has been installed too.

Moving in, the seats are wrapped in custom made seat covers. The center console and the gear lever has been wrapped in the same material as the seat. The car gets an aftermarket touchscreen infotainment system. The screen also shows feed from the reverse parking camera that has been installed as an aftermarket accessory. Other than this, the owner has also installed bass tube in the boot and speakers on all four doors. A set of tweeters are also part of the set up. Overall, the work done of the electric sunroof looks very neat and is probably India’s first Maruti WagonR to get an electric sunroof in it.
