India’s Hummers & their famous owners: MS Dhoni to Harbhajan Singh

The Hummer brand is coming back soon in an all-electric avatar. However, the American SUV has undeniably a massive road presence and also an unreal brand recognition. Built primarily for the US Army, the Hummer soon became popular with the civilians too. Hummer launched the civilian version of the vehicle in 1992 and discontinued it in 2009. Hummer never sold in the Indian market officially but there are a few enthusiasts who have imported them and use them regularly on the Indian roads.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni

Dhoni’s love for motorcycles and SUVs is not a secret. The former Indian cricket team captain owns the only Jeep Grand Cherokee TrackHawk in India. He also owns Hummer H2 that became very popular after a picture of New Zealand players admiring the vehicle from the team bus became viral on the Internet. Dhoni drives around in his Hummer a lot. He also uses the SUV to reach the airport and drives the vehicle on his own.

Harbhajan Singh

Former Indian cricket team spinner, Harbhajan Singh also bought a Hummer H2 soon after Dhoni got his. The vehicle is parked at his home in Punjab but Harbhajan is not spotted with the vehicle in recent times. The all-black Hummer does look extremely aggressive and the vehicle also has tinted windows. Harbhajan has got a special “”0003” registration number for the vehicle. It should be noted that Harbhajan used to play with the same jersey number in the Indian team.

Suneil Shetty

Suneil Shetty became one of the first celebrities to own a Hummer SUV in India. In 2005, when his Hummer arrived in India, Directorate of Revenue (DRI) created a lot of problems. However, the actor paid all the due taxes and got the delivery of the SUV. Suneil has been spotted driving the car a few times in the past.

Udhayanidhi Stalin

Son of late DMK chief minister M. Karunanidhi – Udhayanidhi Stalin is an actor and has done a few movies too. He owns the last-generation of the Hummer – the H3. It is also finished in an all-black paint just like Harbhajan’s. The SUV comes powered by a 3.5-litre, five-cylinder engine that generates a maximum power of 220 Bhp and peak torque of 305 Nm.

Mika Singh

Mika Singh, the Punjabi singer who became quite popular in the recent times also owns a Hummer H2. His orange hummer is stationed in Mumbai and he has been spotted only a couple times with the vehicle. He took the delivery way back in 2006.

Jazzy B

Jazzy B is a famous Punjabi singer-songwriter. The funky and trendy star got a swanky yellow Hummer H2 which he is very fond of. His Hummer H2 has a registration number that reads ‘PB 08 AX’ 1 and has been many times spotted on highways. His original name is Jaswinder Singh Bains and he has even featured his Hummer in many of the songs he featured in.
