India’s most powerful Fiat Punto Abarth is a total BEAST

The Fiat Punto Abarth is India’s most powerful hatchback available for sale. Fiat India dealers are now taking orders for the 2018 edition of the Abarth Punto. Meanwhile, here’s the most powerful modified Punto Abarth, done up by Pete’s. The hot hatchback puts out 170 Bhp and 270 Nm, a massive jump in outputs. The stock Punto Abarth does about 145 Bhp and 212 Nm from its 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. This huge bump up in power and torque is thanks to a custom remap that gives turbo boost pressure a good raise. This modified example also runs on Bilstein suspension for sharper handling and wears 205 section Yokohama S-Drive tyres for better grip levels.

The Punto Abarth is the fastest car in India priced at under Rs. 10 lakhs, with a sub 9 second timing for the 0-100 Kph sprint. Solidly built and a sure footed handler, the Abarth Punto does have its share of fans. Sales have been far from inspiring though, and Fiat often has had to revert to building this car on order.

In fact, the car is back in limited production after many months, and if you’re looking for a brand new, hot hatchback, it’s a good time to buy the Abarth Punto. Some Fiat dealers even offer large discounts on this slowselling car from time to time. Get in touch with your local dealer for specific details on bookings, and of course, prevailing discounts if any.

Fiat has put the 140 Bhp, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine in two other cars – the Avventura Abarth and the Urban Cross. Both cars have different styling and considerably more ground clearance than the Punto Abarth, the hatchback with which they share their underpinnings.

The engine, in a lower, 125 Bhp state of tune is available on the Linea S. For the purest driving experience though, nothing can beat the Punto Abarth. A suspension swap for stiffer units such as the Bilstein B6s are recommended. A remap of course is another way to squeeze even more power out of this motor. Do remember that the remap will come with a significant fuel efficiency penalty when the car’s driven hard.
