Isuzu has launched its flagship SUV, the MU-X in the Indian market. The vehicle will be offered in two variants, a 4×2 and a 4×4 one.
While the 4×2 is priced at Rs 23.99 lakhs, the 4×4 is priced at Rs 25.99 lakhs ex-showroom. The vehicle is only on offer in a single variant, which means both the 4×2 and the 4×4 variant come fully loaded.
Let’s start off with the engine which is on offer in the vehicle. The SUV will be powered by a 3.0 liter, 4-cylimder turbo diesel engine which produces 174 Bhp and 380 Nm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed sequential automatic transmission. For the time being, the MU-X will be offered in only a 4×2 and 4×4 variant. The 4×4 variant has the ‘shift on fly’ unit that is seen on the V-Cross too. It will have a company claimed fuel economy of 13.8 kmpl. The engine has its own uphill and downhill assist, which is activated when the car feels the need.
In terms of features, the vehicle gets projector head lamps, LED DRLs, 6- way adjustable driver’s seat, climate control, keyless-go system, 7″ touch screen system with 8 speakers, a MID and a 10″ roof mounted DVD entertainment system.
In terms of safety, the car will come with ABS, EBD, TCS, dual airbags and hill assist. The vehicle will sit on 17″ alloy wheels and will feature disc brakes all-around with 300 mm discs up front and 318 mm at the back.
The MU-X is a full size SUV with 3 rows of seating. It will take on the likes of the Trailblazer, Rexton, Endeavour and Fortuner. Based on the pricing, the MU-X undercuts the Fortuner and the Endeavour, however it does have a tough fight when it comes to beating the already established products.
The company now sells 2 passenger vehicles in the market, the MU-X and the V-Cross (soon to get an update).
