Jaguar India has launched a new variant of its entry-level luxury sedan, the XF. The Executive Edition variant of the Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel is priced at 45.12 lakh rupees, ex-showroom Mumbai pre-octroi. The car sits under the Luxury edition of the Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel, which is priced a good 5 lakh rupees higher than the new variant. The luxury car uses a 2.2 liter-4 cylinder turbo diesel engine that makes a peak power of 187 Bhp while peak torque is rated at 450 Nm. An 8 speed automatic gearbox drives the rear wheels of the luxury sedan. The car is assembled at Jaguar India’s Chikli assembly facility, off Pune, through CKD kits.
To arrive at the lower price tag for the XF Executive Edition, Jaguar had omitted a bunch of features and creature comforts. The car loses leather seats in favour of seude finished fabric seats. The driver’s seat gets 4 way adjustment, with the 6 way adjustment option getting omitted. The memory function for the electric wing mirrors and the driver’s seat also gets omitted. Other omissions on the car includes the reverse parking camera, sunroof, TV tuner and the comfort button, which allows rear seat passenger to move the front passenger seat from the rear, to liberate additional leg room.
While the Jaguar XF takes on the BMW 5-Series and the Audi A6, the brand will move down the price range in the coming years. In 2016, Jaguar will introduce the XE luxury sedan, the British luxury car marque’s entry level offering that takes on the BMW 3-Series and the Mercedes Benz C-Class. The XE luxury sedan will be based on the aluminium intensive iQ[AL] platform and will feature a new set of turbocharged petrol and diesel engines from the Ingenium range.
