Jawa authorised dealer shuts down without delivering bikes: Money of more than 10 customers stuck

We hear about scams happening around us every day. One of the most recent ones occurred in Mumbai. A Jawa motorcycles dealer has scammed approximately 10 customers by collecting money for bikes but not delivering them. The dealership has now closed its doors, and people have filed complaints against the owners. The dealership in question here is K.K. Motors, which is an authorized dealership for Mahindra’s Jawa and Yezdi bikes. The owners of the dealership have absconded with Rs 20 lakh without delivering the bikes purchased by the customers.

Bandra police have registered a case against the dealership owners for fraudulent activities involving more than 10 customers. According to reports available online, the customers were given various excuses by the dealership when they inquired about the delivery of their motorcycles. They even claimed that the dealership owner was admitted to the hospital before closing the dealership.

K.K. Motors operated from B-264, the ground floor of 30th Road at TPS Lane in Bandra West. The individuals running the authorized showroom have been identified as Gaurav, also known as Rohan Nagda, Dipesh Nagda, and Deepa Nagda. The police now suspect that this is a significant scam and have requested people to come forward if they have also faced similar issues with the dealer. According to the police, K.K. Motors closed the dealership in July, and they started receiving an increasing number of complaints after that. While they were receiving complaints in July, the police officially filed a case on September 2. Jawa Motors’ regional head stated that their legal team is currently looking into the matter, and he cannot provide further comments on this.

Siddharth Menon, who had booked a bike from K.K. Motors, said, “On March 19, I visited KK Motors to purchase a JAWA Yezdi adventure bike for which I also took out a loan. The dealer promised to deliver the bike within 15 days. I paid Rs 2.34 lakh to the dealership, but my bike was never delivered. The dealer gave multiple excuses, including bike damage and company delays of 2-3 days. But when I visited the showroom in mid-July, it was closed.”

Rakesh Mishra, a dentist by profession, said, “I wanted to buy a JAWA Yezdi bike and initially visited a showroom in Juhu. However, the color I wanted was not available, so I went to K.K. Motors in Bandra West. I took a test drive and decided to make a purchase. The dealer asked for Rs 1.5 lakh as a booking amount, and I initially paid Rs 94,000. The dealer repeatedly demanded the remaining amount, which amounted to Rs 2.42 lakh, and I paid it. I was promised the bike would be delivered by July 14.”

In both cases, when the customers called the dealer, they were given several excuses like the bike had been damaged during transportation or at the dealership, and they were waiting for replacement parts or the motorcycle. After some time, the dealership stopped responding to calls altogether. The senior inspector of the Bandra police station has informed that they have registered an FIR under sections 420 and 406 of the Indian Penal Code against the owners.
