Online and offline bookings for the Jawa motorcycles were halted in December as the bikes had been sold out till September 2019. Now, an ad on popular used product selling platform OLX has popped up which is offering the booking id of a Jawa bike. The advertisement states that the id can be bought by anyone and get the bike delivered to him.

The bike on offer here is the Jawa 42 and the amount asked for the booking id is Rs. 15,000. To let you know, the original amount that was to be paid in order to book the bike online was Rs. 5,000. The Jawa 42 being offered in this ad is the ABS equipped version which has a sticker price of Rs. 1.63 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Though this ad here is demanding an extra Rs. 10,000 premium over the original booking amount, the buyer would get the benefit of early delivery, which according to the ad will be in March 2019.

Overall, the Jawa Classic is more in demand than the Jawa 42 owing to its retro design and classic appeal. Earlier, Jawa co-founder, Anupam Thareja, had stated that the company is working towards ramping up production, but this cannot come at the expense of quality. He further added that potential customers should head to dealerships in order to experience the motorcycles. The customers who wish to book the bike can still place their bookings at the dealership, but deliveries will be executed as per the booking sequence.

The Jawa and 42 motorcycles are powered by a 293 cc four stroke engine that churns out 27 Bhp of power and 28 Nm of torque. The liquid cooled engine is Bharat Stage 6 emission norms ready, and uses a very distinct twin exhaust design. The stylish bobber styled Perak, on the other hand, will use a big bore version of the 293cc motor, displacing 334cc. The bigger engine makes 30 Bhp of power along with 31 Nm of torque. All three engines get 6 speed manual gearboxes as standard. Both the 293cc and 334cc motors of the Jawa motorcycles are based on the Mahindra Mojo’s 295cc motor. However, the engines have been extensively re-engineered to give them a distinct character.

Now whether this ad is legit or not is something that can’t be said. However, it shows the massive interest Jawas have received and makes this probably the first case of its type. We are all waiting for the Jawa Perak now as it will be the first of its kind bike in India and will probably be launched by August this year.

The launch of Jawa brand in India last year was welcomed with a lot of enthusiasm and the brand started off high on adrenaline. The company launched two bikes on the launch date and showcased another bobber styled bike during the event. The Jawa 42 and Jawa Classic, which are the bikes that were available for booking, have received tremendous response from buyers.
