Jeep Compass Limited Plus bookings open: To get sunroof and many new features

The new variant of the Compass will be called the Limited Plus, and will sit right at the top of the SUV’s range in the Indian market. As for changes, the biggest one will be a panoramic sunroof. Indians love sunroofs and the panoramic sunroof on the Compass is likely to be a big draw among buyers. Other changes on the SUV could include a dual tone exterior, a larger touchscreen infotainment console, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, 18-inch alloy wheels and electrically adjustable front seats.

The Limited Plus variant of the Compass will be available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The new, fully loaded variant is expected to cost about Rs. 1.5 lakhs more than the current top-end variants, which means that the Limited Plus Diesel could start at Rs. 22 lakhs, and the Limited Plus 4X4 Diesel could start at Rs. 24 lakhs.

The petrol-powered Limited Plus variant is likely to be pegged at Rs. 22 lakhs for the top-spec, automatic variant. The engines and gearbox options will be unchanged. This means that the Compass Petrol will continue with a 1.4 litre, turbocharged engine with 160 Bhp-250 Nm on tap. A 7 speed, twin clutch automatic gearbox is likely to be standard on the Limited Plus petrol variant.

The Limited Plus diesel variant will get a 2 litre turbocharged motor with 170 Bhp-350 Nm, with a 6 speed manual gearbox as standard. Both front wheel drive and all wheel drive options will be offered on the diesel variant.

Early next year, Jeep will launch another range-topping variant for the diesel model, with the TrailHawk badge. The TrailHawk version of the Compass will be more capable off the road, and will get a host of mechanical and feature changes that will make it a much better vehicle for off-roading. It’ll get two additional off-road modes on the all-wheel drive system, new front and rear bumpers, and also improved suspension for better articulation.
