Jeep Compass SUV’s attractive upgrade scheme now extends to June 2018

Jeep India has extended the attractive upgrade scheme on the Compass SUV to June 2018. Buyers of the Jeep Compass can upgrade from the 4X2 to the 4X4 variant by paying just Rs. 75,000. Earlier, this scheme was limited to Jeep Compass models manufactured in 2017. Now, Jeep India has extended this scheme to the 2018 models of the SUV as well. Effectively, a person opting for the Limited 4X2 Diesel version of the Compass can upgrade to the Limited 4X4 variant by paying just Rs. 75,000 extra. This translate to a whopping discount of Rs. 1.25 lakhs. Currently, Jeep Compass 4X2 variants are priced between Rs. 19.21 lakh – 19.91 lakh, while the 4X4 variants are priced between Rs. 21.18 lakh – 21.91 lakh.

The Compass Diesel uses a 2 litre Fiat Multijet turbocharged engine with 170 Bhp-350 Nm outputs. The SUV’s regular variants are front wheel driven even as Jeep offers an all wheel drive option on the top-end 4X4 trims. A 6 speed manual gearbox is standard. In the coming months, Jeep will add a 9 speed automatic gearbox to the Compass Diesel. This combination will also be offered on the Compass Trailhawk, an off-road oriented variant that the American brand will soon launch in India. Considering this, the large discount on the Compass 4X4 Diesel could be a stock clearance move from Jeep India.

The Compass has been a big success for Jeep India. The SUV outsold the likes of the Mahindra XUV500 and the Tata Hexa in the first few months after it went on sale. Now though, the XUV500 – with its recent facelift – has clawed back market share from the Compass. The Compass sold in India is also available with a turbocharged petrol engine, with 160- Bhp-250 Nm. The petrol engined Compass gets two transmission options – a 6 speed manual and a 7 speed twin clutch automatic. However, there’s no 4X4 mode on the Compass Petrol, even as an option. So far, Jeep has sold over 20,000 units of the Compass in India.
