While it remains to be seen if FCA brings the Jeep Renegade to India, the vehicle has been spotted on test more than once. IndianAutosBlog recently published pictures of a test mule, which is reported to be caught in Delhi. As can be seen in the second photo below, the compact SUV was accompanied by the larger Grand Cherokee.
Earlier this month, Jeep officially announced its entry to the Indian market. The first products to go on sale will be enthusiast-oriented Wrangler and the larger, more premium Grand Cherokee (both in regular and the performance ‘SRT’ guise). The Renegade, on the other hand, remains a mystery, as while the company hasn’t announced anything regarding it yet, there have been multiple reports of Renegades being imported into India for R&D.
The report also mentions the possibility of Jeep testing the platform as the same will underpin the upcoming Jeep 551 Compact SUV, which will be manufactured in India – Fiat made the announcement at the Expo, and also that 280 million dollars will be invested to upgrade the production facility.
