Watch Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, Mahindra Thar, V-Cross & other SUVs go rock crawling

Although Indian car buyers love SUVs, most of the car that are bought by customers are not proper 4×4 SUVs. Most of them buy front wheel drive or 2WD SUVs or crossovers which have ample ground clearance and ample amount of road presence. Only few people actually buy proper SUVs and even in that section, only some take their SUVs out to explore its capabilities. Off-roading is not that popular in India but, we do have SUV owners group and off-road adventure zone’s where people can actually explore their SUVs potential. Here we have a video where a group of SUV owners can be seen doing rock crawling.

The video has been uploaded by Anshuman Bishnoi on his YouTube channel. In this video, Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, new and old generation Mahindra Thar, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and many other SUVs are seen crawling up the rocky stretch.

Jeep Wrangler was the first SUV. Driver had engaged 4 low and was just concentrating on steering the vehicle. Jeep Compass show its true colour in this video. The SUV crawled up the rocky section without any problem. It did not get stuck even once. The SUV had ample ground clearance and did not loose traction on any of the wheels even once.

Next was the new generation Mahindra Thar. It is a capable SUV but the driver got stuck at couple of places before making it to the top. There were couple of spots where the wheels lost traction but, it successfully crawled the rocky stretch. It should be noted that unlike Jeep Wrangler, Mahindra Thar did not have any modifications.

Ford Endeavour was the next SUV and it had an off-road bumper for better approach angle. Endeavour is a large and heavy SUV and after getting proper inputs from the spotter, Endevour managed to come up without any problem. Similarly, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu V-Cross also managed to clear the obstacle.

One Mahindra Scorpio 4×4 was also in the group and it was probably the only SUV that struggled a bit. It was unable to gain traction and the side foot board were coming in contact with the ground at many places. After several trials, Mahindra Scorpio also made to the top of the section.

After all the vehicles had cleared the obstacle, Jeep Wrangler driver tried crawling up the same section with diff locks disengaged. Unlike the first time, Rubicon did loose some traction at the bottom of the climb but, after that it steadily climbed up.

Off-roading is an adventure activity and it is always recommended to go for such activities under the supervision of an expert. Anything can go wrong with the vehicle while off-roading, so it is always advisable to do these activities in group. In case one of the vehicle gets stuck or breaks down there is always a backup vehicle which can bring you out of it. All the SUVs that are being taken off-road must basic recovery tools like tow rope, jack with them.
