Bollywood stars have been on a car shopping spree ever since the start of this year and the latest one to join the list Kangana Ranaut. The B-town actress has just bought a Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class SUV which is positioned as a mid-range SUV in the German manufacturers model lineup in India. Prices of this swanky SUV start at Rs. 61.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base 250 D variant while the top end 350 G variant is priced at Rs. 77.82 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The pictures below from the Instagram id Mercedes-Benz Landmark Cars show the actress taking delivery of her new SUV.
Finished in white, the variant of her Mercedes GLE SUV is not yet known. Kangana also owns a few other cars including the ultra-luxurious BMW 7-series sedan. She is mostly seen in the luxury saloon while arriving for events and her shoots. However, the car will now probably be replaced by the GLE-Class SUV for travelling around. Of late, a lot of B-town celebrities have started using SUV for their personal use. Earlier this year, Katrina Kaif bought a Land Rover Range Rover Vogue SUV. A lot of other celebrities have also upgraded to SUVs including the likes of Malaika Arora and Siddharth Malhotra among others.
Talking about the Mercedes GLE-Class SUV, a few other celebrities also own this SUV in India. This includes Huma Qureshi, Salman Khan, and Shahid Kapoor among others. However, Shahid and Salman own the GLE 43 AMG coupe, which is a more sporty and powerful version of the regular GLE SUV. For the uninitiated, the GLE-Class was earlier called the M-Class. The name change happened in recent years which saw a similar nomenclature scheme applied to a lot of cars, including the GL-Class SUV among others.
The GLE was brought to India as the facelifted version of the older M-Class that had been a popular product in India for the tri-star brand. It came with a revised grille, new headlamps along with new LED taillights on the outside. Come to the interiors, the features on this luxury SUV include electric seat adjustments with memory, COMAND interface and five driving modes among others.
Mercedes-Benz offers a total of three engine options with the GLE SUV in India, two among which are diesel units. The base model is powered by a 2.1-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that churns out 201 Bhp of power along with 500 Nm of torque. The mid-spec variant is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine that churns out 333 Bhp of power along with 480 Nm of torque. The top-end variant, on the other hand, is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine that puts out 255 Bhp of power and 620 Nm of torque. All the engines come mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
