Katrina Kaif posts first picture with her latest ride: a Range Rover luxury SUV worth Rs. 2.72 crores

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif, whose latest movie Bharat is just around the corner, posted the first picture of her  new car: the ultra luxurious Range Rover SE Vogue SUV. The Range Rover SE Vogue SUV, in diesel, is priced at Rs. 2.37 crores ex-showroom Mumbai. Taxes and registration charges add up to another 35 lakh rupees, taking the on road price of the SUV to Rs. 2.72 crores. Ms. Kaif bought the car a few months ago, and finally took out time to post it on her official Instagram handle, where she has also praised Modi Motors – the Jaguar-Land Rover dealer in Worli, Mumbai, from where she purchased the vehicle.

The version of the Range Rover Ms. Kaif has is SE Diesel LWB. What this indicates is that the SUV is diesel powered,  and uses a 4.4 liter V8 turbocharged diesel that puts out 335 Bhp of peak power and 740 Nm of peak torque. The  gearbox is an 8 speed automatic unit sourced from ZF, and paddle shifters are standard.

An all-wheel drive layout is also standard with this SUV, which gets a flurry of safety aids. From 8 airbags and a  Terrain Response system for the all wheel drive unit, to ESP, traction control, hill hold, multiple driving modes and a limited slip differential, the Range Rover Vogue is one of the safest SUVs in its segment.

The SUV has striking road presence, and has a panoramic sunroof that gives its occupants a sense of airiness. Also,  it’s long wheelbase form factor means that it is large and spacious on the inside, offering great leg room. Leather  interiors are standard. It’s this combination of luxury, comfort and unrivaled street presence that’s making India’s rich and famous opt for the Range Rover Vogue.

Bollywood movie stars are taking to the Range Rover Vogue in a big way, and the luxury SUV has now displaced the Audi Q7 as the luxury SUV of choice among Bollywood’s swish set. Amitabh Bachchan owns one, so does Shahrukh Khan and Akshay Kumar. Among female celebrities, Katrina Kaif joins the likes of Alia Bhatt, Shilpa Shetty and Anushka Sharma, who also own Range Rover Vogue SUVs.

Land Rover also offers a range of personalization and customization options on its top-of-the-line SUV – the Range Rover Vogue. It’s not clear if Katrina Kaif has opted for any of these options. What’s also unclear is whether Ms.  Kaif purchased this SUV at its full price or if Modi Motors/Land Rover offered this vehicle to her at a heavily discounted price/in exchange for promoting the brand/dealership.

The latter is quite common in the celebrity world. There have been multiple instances of luxury car and motorcycle  brands gifting celebrities high end vehicles in exchange for brand promotion. Jeep gifting Saif Ali Khan a Grand  Cherokee SRT is a prime example of this. In Saif’s case, the Grand Cherokee SRT is registered as a vehicle owned by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) India.
