Kawasaki India has updated their range of bikes for the country and will now be selling them through exclusive dealerships here. The updated range includes:
The 2017 Ninja gets a cosmetic and mechanical update. Power comes from a 296 cc, liquid-cooled engine that is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. The engine is now BS4 compliant and produces 38 Bhp and 27 Nm. The Ninja gets 290 mm discs up front and 220 mm discs at that back, both with dual piston calipers.
Prices start at Rs 3.64 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi. The bike still doesn’t get ABS, something which is on offer in the international market.
The bike was first showcased at Intermot in 2016 and gets a minor update from the one that is currently on sale here. It gets an updated 649 cc parallel twin engine producing 67 Bhp and 65.7 Nm. The bike now weighs 193 kgs and has lost close to 18 kgs over the outgoing version. This one is priced at Rs 5.69 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi.
This bike was first showcased at EICMA 2016. This is essentially the naked version of the Ninja 650. Power comes from the same 649 cc engine making 67 Bhp abd 65.7 Nm. This one weighs a little less though, tipping the scales at 187 kgs. This one gets the same frame as the Ninja, but gets different instrumentation however, similar to that on the Z900. This one is priced a little below the Ninja, at Rs 5.19 lakhs.
The updates to the Versys include a new colour scheme, a new gear position indicator and adjustable windshield. Power comes from the same 649 cc engine that produces 68 Bhp and 64 Nm. At the front, you have 41 mm upside down forks with stepless adjustable rebound damping on the right hand side and adjustable preload on the left hand side. In addition to this, it also has an offset laydown single shock at the rear with remote preload adjustment. Pricing for this starts at Rs 6.60 lakhs.
The Z900 is the replacement for the Z800, however that will continue to be on sale in the country for the time being. The bike is powered by a 948 cc engine that produces 123 Bhp and 98.6 Nm. The first 5 gears are short where as the 6th gear is mainly an overdrive. This one is almost 20 kgs lighter than the Z800 and is priced at Rs 9.0 lakhs.
