Kawasaki has just launched the Vulcan S cruiser in the Indian market. The 650cc bike borrows its frame, engine and other cycle parts from the Ninja 650, which is already assembled at Kawasaki’s Pune-based factory. The bike is priced at Rs. 5.44 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. This makes it similarly priced to the Harley Davidson Street 750 cruiser bike, whose ABS equipped version is priced at Rs. 5.43 lakhs. The motorcycle is assembled in Pune, like the Ninja 650, and this is why Kawasaki has been able to price the Vulcan S very competitively.
The 650cc engine of the Vulcan is a parallel twin unit, borrowed from the Ninja 650. It produces a peak power of 60.2 Bhp @ 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 62.78 Nm @ 6,600 rpm. A 6 speed manual gearbox is standard, and so is fuel injection and liquid cooling. The bike is fitted with disc brakes on both wheels, and gets ABS as standard. It also gets a eco-meter on the instrument cluster, which gives the rider an indication on how to ride in the most fuel efficient part of the rpm range. The bike is equipped with a 14 liter fuel tank.
Apart from cruiser styling, a unique feature on the Vulcan S are the adjustable foot pegs, handle and seat. This feature is meant to give riders of different heights a way to find a comfortable riding position. Bookings for this bike are now open at all Kawasaki dealerships across India. Deliveries wil start from early 2018, and the company will also showcase this bike at the upcoming 2018 Indian Auto Expo. Mr. Yutaka Yamashita, Managing Director of India Kawasaki Motor, said
After our sports bikes, tourer bikes, naked bikes & off road bikes settled in India, we felt it was a right time for us to bring this cruiser in the market. There cannot be a better way to start a new year by introduction of our world-wide known Vulcan brand. FUN TO RIDE is Kawasaki’s global ideology, which perfectly fits to Vulcan S. It is different than any other cruiser mainly because of its powerful, yet easy-to-control engine, easy manoeuvring, light weight, yet stable, and highway riding and important to mention 14 litre fuel tank with good fuel economy.
