Kia has been doing very well in the Indian market. They have managed to become profitable in just two years. Now, Kia is preparing to launch their new vehicle in the Indian market. It will be called Carens and will be unveiled on December 16th. The new MPV has been spotted numerous times. Here, we have renders in multiple colours that are based on the spy shots.
Carens will get a lot of SUV elements so that it does not look like a MPV. So, there will be a flat bonnet, thick plastic cladding throughout the length of the car and a tall stance. From the spy shots and the render, we know that there will be a split headlamp setup.
The LED Daytime Running Lamp is above and the main headlamp is below. The headlamp unit will get a halogen setup while the top-end variant might come with an LED setup.

The Daytime Running Lamps will be connected via piano black strip. The render’s bumper looks nice and different. There are fog lamps too. It will come with 5-spoke alloy wheels that we have already seen on the test mules.
The LED turn indicators are mounted on the body-coloured outside rearview mirrors. There is a chrome window beltline and the chrome extends to the D pillar also. There are roof rails and chrome door handles. The rear and the interior has not been rendered by the artist. But we do know that there will be LED tail lamps and the interior has already been spotted in the spy shots.
Carens will come with a digital instrument cluster, cruise control, multi-function steering wheel, a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, UVO connected car technology, wireless charger, automatic climate control, air purifier and much more.
Kia will offer the Carens with a petrol and a diesel engine. The diesel engine will be a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 115 PS of max power and 250 Nm of peak torque. We have seen this engine on other Kia and Hyundai models also. It will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
As of now, we do not know which petrol engine will Kia use. This is because they have three petrol engines in their portfolio. They have a 2.0-litre, naturally aspirated engine that is doing duty on Alcazar and Elantra, then there is the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine that is offered with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. There is also a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that comes with direct injection. It is the most powerful and is offered on the Creta and the Seltos whereas the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine is the least powerful.
All the petrol engines are offered with some kind of automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine comes mated to a CVT, 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine is mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission and the turbo petrol is offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
