The Kia Carens has brought back the customer interest in the compact MPV segment, which of late got restricted in the number of options one had. This new three-row utility vehicle from Kia had a flying start and is attracting huge demand for all of its variants. Here, a customer purchased a brand-new mid-spec Kia Carens Prestige Plus variant and customized its interior layout soon after purchasing it.
The entire details of the customization work are explained in a video uploaded by the YouTube channel of ‘Autorounders’, which is a Mumbai-based after-market customization specialist who carried out the task of customizing this Carens. The mid-spec Prestige Plus variant of the Kia Carens gets normal-looking fabric upholstery and a grey theme for the hard plastic on the upper portion of the dashboard, which does not make the MPV look much premium. The customization work included custom seat covers, a leather finish for the steering wheel and a rich-looking piano black finish for the dashboard.

Customised seats
As seen in the video, the customization work began with the removal of all the seats and dashboard panels, which is a carefully executed process, so that nothing is broken or damaged. Even the steering wheel is safely removed while detaching the wiring harness for the horn and steering-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls.
The seats are then wrapped with dual-tone black and beige seat covers made of high-quality composite leather, which makes the seats look very premium as compared to the stock grey fabric upholstery. The upper panels of the dashboard also are coated with a high gloss piano black paint using a paint spray gun. Lastly, the steering wheel is wrapped with leather material, which is then stitched over it.
After the installation of seats with the new covers, the upper layer of the dashboard with piano black finish and the steering wheel with leather wrap over it, the ambience of the cabin of the Carens looks much uplifted and premium. Satish Mandalia, the founder of Autorounders, said that the customer came with the Carens right after taking the delivery to get the interior customized.
Launched in February 2022, the Kia Carens is available in five variants – Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus.
