Kia Motors launched its first-ever vehicle in the Indian market earlier this year in the form of Seltos and it has become quite popular in the market. The Korean manufacturer is currently working to launch the second vehicle in the Indian market and it will be an MPV. Kia has already confirmed that their second vehicle for the Indian market, the Carnival will be launched in early 2020. Now reports suggest that it will be launched at the 2020 Auto Expo, which is scheduled to take place in February next year.
The Kia Carnival is an MPV, which is already on sale in the international markets. In India, it will be tweaked to match the Indian standards and it is quite possible that a few features are omitted from the base variant to make it budget-friendly. Even though the Kia Carnival will be much more expensive than the likes of Toyota Innova Crysta, it will take on the top-end variants of Toyota’s MPV.
The Carnival MPV is available in various configurations in the international markets. There is a seven-seater, eight-seater and even eleven-seater variants available in the international markets. However, in India, only one variant is expected to be launched initially. After gauging the demand, Kia Motors may bring in more variants at a later date. The Kia’s MPV is much bigger than than the Toyota Innova Crysta and it will be priced close to Rs 30 lakh in the Indian market. While the Innova Crysta is quite popular among the taxi fleets in India, the Carnival will target a different set of buyers in the Indian market.
The cabin of the Kia Carnival is also quite luxurious. It gets personal touchscreen infotainment system for the rear passengers. Also, the seats are extremely comfortable and will be a perfect getaway vehicle for long-distance journeys. Just like Kia’s first vehicle in India, the Carnival is expected to get a long list of features. Apart from the features like the infotainment system, automatic headlamps, personal entertainment systems, the Carnival will also come equipped with a number of safety features. This includes ABS+EBD, ESP, traction control system, hill descent control, forward-collision warning and more such features. These are the features that are available in the international spec Kia Carnival. All the features are not expected to be launched in the Indian version though.
Engine-wise, the Kia Seltos may get a 2.2-litre e-VGT diesel engine that churns out a maximum power of 199 Bhp at 3,800 rpm and peak torque of 441 Nm that develops between 1,750-2,750 rpm. It gets a six-speed automatic transmission in the international markets and the same is expected to be launched in the Indian market too.
