Kia Motors India has now silently introduced a six-seater variant of Carnival luxury MPV in the market. Carnival is currently the most expensive product from the manufacturer in India. The newly added version of Carnival is offered with captain seats for both second and third row seats. Kia Carnival was earlier available in seven, eight and nine seat configurations. Kia decided to launch the six seater version in the market as a replacement to the 9-seater version which has also been silently discontinued. From now on, Kia Carnival MPV will available in six, seven and eight seater configurations.
According to reports, the nine seater variant of the Kia Carnival was not much in demand. It was not as successful as the manufacturer thought it to be. Nine seater version was available only in the mid-spec Prestige trim. Kia is offered in Premium, Prestige and Limousine trims. With 9-seater version discontinued from the market, Kia Carnival offers a lot more space on the inside. With all three rows up, the 6-seater version offers a boot space of 540 litres. This can be expanded up to 2,759 litres by folding the third and second and third row.
Apart from this everything else remains the same in Kia Carnival. It continues to offer features like LED headlamps and tail lamps, LED fog lamps, 18 inch crystal cut alloy wheels, three zone climate control, touchscreen infotainment system, powered tail gate, dual electric sunroof, leatherette upholstery, front parking sensors, electrically sliding doors and many more features.
Kia Carnival is available with six and eight seater seater configuration in Premium and Prestige trims. The seven seater configuration is available with all the variants including the top-end Limousine and recently introduced Limousine Plus. Price for Kia Carnival MPV starts at Rs 24.95 lakh, ex-showroom and goes up to Rs 33.99 lakh, ex-showroom for top-end Limousine Plus variant.
Kia Carnival is powered by a 2.2 litre, turbocharged diesel engine. The engine generates 200 Ps and 440 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard. Kia currently has three offerings in the Indian market including Carnival. The Seltos and Sonet SUVs are doing well in their respective segments.
Kia is now working on a new MPV for Indian market and the same has been spotted testing couple of times. According to reports, the upcoming MPV from the manufacturer is likely to be called Carens. Not much information is available about the MPV but, it is likely to compete with Maruti Eritiga and XL6 when launched. Like other Kia products, the upcoming MPV is expected to be offered with several features like all LED headlamps and tail lamps, electric sunroof, large touchscreen, connected car features, ventilated seats, alloy wheels and so on.
Unlike other car manufacturers, Kia is expected to offer the new MPV with both petrol and diesel engine options. The engine is most likely to be the same 1.5 litre petrol and diesel units that are seen in Seltos. Kia is working on the MPV and it might also get automatic and iMT gearbox as option.
