The Kia Seltos mid-size SUV is one of the very few SUVs that still comes with a diesel engine that is very popular in the country. It comes with a 1.5-litre CRDI VGT diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 114 bhp and a peak torque of 250 Nm. Prior to the reintroduction of the manual transmission option for this engine, the company was only offering this engine with the iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) with the mid-spec variants and 6 speed torque converter automatic for the top-spec variants.
The primary reason behind the relaunch of the Seltos diesel engine variants with the manual transmission is because the company wants to challenge the new 2024 Creta facelift. Hyundai Motor India Limited has launched the new Creta facelift with the diesel manual variants and they start at Rs 12.45 lakh. Kia has undercut the pricing of the new Creta equipped with diesel engine and manual transmission and it will help it in boosting the sales of this already popular model in the country.
The company previously used to offer manual transmission with diesel engine but it discontinued them in India in order to push the sales of the IMT variants. However, the company could not see any promising results, so it has now reintroduced them in India.
Kia India launched the new Seltos facelift back in July of last year. It has now revealed that so far the company has sold more than 65,000 units of this popular compact SUV in the country. This time around the company is launched the new Seltos with ADAS level 2. The list of its ADAS features includes forward collision warning, forward collision-avoidance assist, lane departure warning and lane keeping assist. It also gets lane following assist smart cruise control with stop and go, blind-spot collision warning and rear cross-traffic collision warning and avoidance system. The car also gets 360 degree camera and a number of other safety features. Also Read:Most Affordable 2024 Hyundai Creta & Kia Seltos
