Kia Seltos Turbo Petrol Automatic: 0-100 Kph acceleration and 100-0 Kph braking on video

The hotly anticipated Kia Seltos compact SUV has finally been launched at a starting price of Rs. 9.69 lakhs, which actually makes it cheaper than the best selling Hyundai Creta. The Seltos is available with a wide range of engine and gearbox options, and enthusiasts would be particularly impressed by the 1.4 liter turbo petrol engine offered on this SUV. The Seltos’ 1.4 liter turbo petrol engine makes 140 Bhp-242 Nm, and is offered with 6 speed manual and 7 speed twin clutch automatic gearbox options. This version of the Seltos has the best acceleration, and Kia Motors claims a sub-10 second 0-100 Kph run for the turbo petrol engined variants. What this also means is that the Seltos is the fastest compact SUV in its class, and possibly even in the sub-Rs. 25 lakh segments. Here’s a video that shows how quickly the Kia Seltos accelerates from 0-100 Kph, and also its braking performance in the 100-0 Kph run.

As the video indicates, the DCT (twin clutch automatic) version of the SUV manages a 0-100 Kph run in just 9.97 seconds, making it blazingly quick. As for braking performance, the compact SUV comes to a complete stop from 100 Kph in 2.98 seconds. The video does not reveal the braking distance though. The SUV gets ABS and electronic brake distribution as standard. Higher variants get a slew of safety features including 6 airbags, cruise control, a 360 degree parking camera, emergency alerts, front parking sensors, ESP, traction control and hill hold assist.

Prices of the GT Line Seltos Turbo Petrol trims start from Rs. 13.49 lakhs for the 6 speed manual trim, and go up to Rs. 15.99 lakhs for the top-end GTX+ manual and the GTX automatic trims. In the coming weeks, Kia Motors will introduce a top-end GTX+ trim with the automatic gearbox option as well.

The Seltos’ top-end GTX+ trim is easily the most feature-rich compact SUV in its segment, beating the current benchmark in the segment – the Hyundai Creta. Features offered on the GTX+ line up include the electric sunroof, leather seats, ventilated seats for the driver and front passenger, 8 way power adjustable seat for the driver, heads up display, a 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system with a range of connected car features, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, cooled glovebox, central arm rest and an 8 speaker Bose stereo. Bookings for all variants of the Seltos are open, and Kia Motors has already produced 5,000 units of the SUV. Deliveries are already on, and waiting periods for the SUV now range between 6 weeks to 4 months depending on the variant chosen. Kia Motors plans to add an extra shift to bring down waiting times.
