Kia will launch its much anticipated Seltos compact SUV in August this year. Rival to the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Nissan Kicks, the Seltos is an all-new product by the Korean manufacturer. Now, the company has announced that bookings for the Seltos will start from July and not before that. Kia has further rubbished the claims by a few reports which said that the manufacturer has opened bookings for the Seltos. Several websites had also popped up on the internet which claimed to take bookings for the upcoming SUV.
However, Kia Motors India has confirmed that it has not released any official communication around the booking process of the upcoming Kia Seltos. The bookings for the SUV will begin in July with the launch event lined up for August. The Seltos has been able to gather a strong response from potential buyers across the country owing to its dashing looks, feature rich interiors as well as engine and gearbox options. On the outside, the Seltos features a full LED headlamp that looks quite good along with several other design elements that make it aggressive and elegant at the same time. The platform used on the Seltos will also be found on the next generation model of the Hyundai Creta and a few other mechanicals might also be shared between the two SUVs.
The Seltos will be the first vehicle in India to come with three different automatic gearbox options along with a manual box. It will be available with a torque converter, a CVT and a dual-clutch transmission apart from a 6-speed manual gearbox. Talking about the engines, there are a total of three engine options to choose from. This includes a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
The 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine will be available only with the performance-oriented GT Line variant of the Seltos. The 6-speed manual transmission will be standard across the range while the 7-speed DCT will only be available with the 1.4-litre GT Line version of the car. Other details about the engine and gearboxes will come out as the launch of the Kia Seltos comes closer.
Apart from the engine and gearbox options, the Seltos will be launched with several segment first features. This includes Heads-Up Display, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, an 8-speaker sound system by Bose, an air purifier which doubles up as an AC vent for rear seat passengers, 360-degree surround camera, rear sunshade curtain, a 7-inch colour TFT unit for the instrument console, and a sound mood lamp. Pricing of the Kia Seltos is expected to be in the range of Rs. 11 lakh to Rs. 16 lakh, though nothing can be confirmed as of now.
