Kia will launch the Seltos on the 22nd of this month and the SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks as well as the Tata Harrier and the MG Hector. While a lot of details about Kia’s debut vehicle for India are already out, the brochure images below describe several other features and minute details about the car that you probably didn’t know.
Kia has gone for a dual trim concept for the Seltos and will offer it in two different trim styles, each trim having its own trim levels. The premium Tech Line models will be sold under the HT trim while the sporty GT line models will be sold under the GT Trim. The trim levels will be differentiated by adding either X, K or E as a suffix to HT and GT. Here X stands for eXtreme, K stands for Klass and E stands for Energy, with the latter being the highest trim level.
Kia will offer 3 engine options with the Seltos of which two will be petrol units while one will be a diesel mill. All these engines will be BSVI emission norms compliant and will come with a different type of automatic transmission each. The most powerful among them is Smartstream 1.4 litre GDI petrol engine that pumps out 140 Ps of power along with 242 Nm of torque and gets a 7-speed DCT option along with a 6-speed manual box.
The interiors will be different on the GT models compared to the HT models. While the HT models will get honeycomb pattern leatherette seats, the GT models will get a tube pattern sports leatherette seats. The driver’s seat will be 8-way power adjustable while the rear seats get a two-step reclining setting.
The Kia Seltos will come with a total of three driving modes along with 3 different traction modes. The driving modes offred on the Seltos are Normal (balanced), Eco (fuel-efficient) and Sports (performance). The traction modes, on the other hand, are Mud, Snow/Wet, and Sand mode.
The top-end variants will get a 10.25 touch infotainment system while the mid variants will get an 8-inch touch infotainment system. The base models will make do with a 3.8-inch double din system.
Another striking feature of the Seltos will be its Ambient mood lighting option that will also function as sound mood lights. Owners can choose from 8 different types of colours for ambient lighting along with 6 different types of multicolour themes to liven up the cabin.
Audiophiles are in for a treat if they plan to buy the Seltos. Kia has equipped the SUV with an 8 speaker, 400W sound system from BOSE that is guaranteed to turn the car into a theatre. A subwoofer will be placed in the boot and the audio system will feature a dynamic speed compensation feature that adjusts the audio output according to the NVH levels.
The SUV will come with a 360-degree camera that can provide a bird’s eye view of the vehicle’s surroundings. Also present will be a Blind View mirror and driving rearview mirror, the former being a segment-first feature.
The Kia Seltos will be the first vehicle in India at such a low price point to offer a heads up display (HUD) feature. Information such as speed, navigation, cruise control and speed limit among others is displayed in the direct line off driver’s sight which reduces the chances of taking the eyes off the road.
