Kia Seltos compact SUV’s front end revealed through new teaser ahead of official unveil

South Korean automaker Kia Motors will launch its first vehicle for the Indian market later this year, in the form of the Seltos compact SUV. The automaker has now released a new teaser of the Seltos, which shows the SUV’s front end styling. Kia Motors will officially unveil the Seltos in India on the 20th of June, ahead of the SUV’s official launch, which will happen later this year. The Kia Seltos will be based on the Hyundai Creta platform but will get different petrol and diesel engines. The SUV will be built at a brand new factory that Kia Motors has set up in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. It will rival the Hyundai Creta on the lower end and the likes of the Tata Harrier and the Jeep Compass on the higher end of its price spectrum. We expect the Seltos to be priced above the Hyundai Creta, and also pack in a lot more than what the best selling Hyundai SUV offers. Meanwhile, do check the latest video teaser that we’ve lined up for you.

The Kia Seltos’ styling is no secret given the fact that the compact SUV was spied uncamouflaged during a TVC shoot a couple of weeks ago. The new teaser only confirms the styling of the SUV that was spied during the TVC. LED headlamps and the Kia Tiger Nose grille will be the prominent styling bits on the front, and the Seltos will get a futuristic design. The SUV will be a five seater, and will be similarly sized to the Creta.

On the inside, it will have a lot more features though. The teaser of the SUV has revealed that it will get an electric parking brake, electric sunroof, ambient lighting, 10.2 inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, hill hold assist, quiet mode with driver-talk mode for the Bluetooth interface, ventilated seats, driving modes, steering assist modes, adaptive cruise control, ambient lighting, idle-stop function and paddle shifters.

As for the engines, 1.5 liter turbocharged petrol and diesel units are likely, and both are likely to meet Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) emission norms right from the outset. 6 speed manual and automatic gearbox options are likely to be offered with both engines. Power and torque ratings of the new engines are likely to be revealed at the time of the official unveil on the 20th of June.

These engines are expected to be offered even on the next-generation, 2020 Hyundai Creta. Bookings for the Seltos could begin in the next few weeks and production at full swing in Anantapur is alo expected to begin soon. The Kia Seltos will be followed by more SUVs from the brand. A compact SUV in the sub-4 meter space, based on the Hyundai Venue, is expected to be the next big thing from the South Korean automaker for the Indian market.
