Kia Motors formally confirmed the name of the upcoming SUV as Seltos a few days back. The all-new mid-size SUV will take on the likes of Tata Harrier and Hyundai Creta in the Indian market. The Kia Seltos will be a global SUV and will be available in various markets around the world. While Kia is yet to announce their official range of engines for the Indian market, Business Times China has reported the engines that will be launched with the Seltos in China. It is highly likely that the Indian model will also get the same range of engines.
According to the report, the all-new Kia Seltos will both petrol and diesel engine options. There will be a range of T-GDi engines, which consists of a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine generating around 120 Bhp or a 1.4-litre turbocharged engine that generates around 140 Bhp. The diesel variants of the car are likely to be powered by Nu 2.0-litre engine that generates a maximum power of 150 Bhp. Both the engine options may get automatic transmission as an option. It should be noted that for the Indian market, the Seltos was expected to get powered by the same engine options as the Hyundai Creta. However, since the launch of the Kia Seltos will happen by the end of this year, which is too close to the BS6 emission norms implementation, it will get the all-new 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.-5litre diesel engine option. It should be noted that the Indian engine options can be different from the International-spec Seltos.
Kia Seltos is likely to get a range of first-in-segment features too. From the official sketches released by the manufacturer, we can figure out that the vehicle is likely to get a coloured TFT display in the driver instrument console. Also, the article claims that the Kia Seltos will get a humongous 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The panel will not work as a central console to control all other features like the AC. Kia is also expected to launch segment-first features and the report says that the vehicle will get ventilated seats with a heating option in the Chinese market. While there will be an option of heated steering wheel too.
The all-new Kia Seltos was also spotted with a HUD system in the leaked pictures. However, it cannot be confirmed if such high-end features will make it to the Indian model. Since the Indian market is a very price sensitive market, we may not get to see such features in the domestic market when the Seltos launches. However, it will be heavily loaded with features. The Kia Seltos will be officially unveiled in India later this month but it is not known if Kia will announce the engine options.
