Kia is all set to set its foot in India with the launch of the Seltos compact SUV, scheduled to happen on the 22nd of August. The South Korean brand has in fact already set its foot pretty steadily here by establishing around 250 touchpoints across 150 cities and further aims to make that number grow to 350 by 2021. While the Seltos was revealed recently by Kia, the prices and variant details will be out on the day of its official launch. In its segment, it will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500 and even the newly launch MG Hector. To let you know, the Seltos was first showcased at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo in its concept form known as the SP Concept. On the outside, the Seltos is quite a looker with that tiger grille nose, full LED headlamps and vertically mounted fog lamps. It rides on stylish looking machined alloy wheels which are expected to only come on the top end variants. The rear is equally attractive and the whole SUV looks quite well proportioned, as seen in the video above.
Talking about the interiors of the car, Kia has made sure that the Seltos races past the competition both in terms of comfort as well as features. The SUV will come with a Bose music system which will enhance its in-car entertainment scene. Coming to the other features Kia has filled the Seltos with, it will come with a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, heads-up display, cruise control along with with a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and coloured MID. Ambient lighting, electronic parking brake, cruise control, hill assist and multiple driving modes are other extras that the compact SUV will come with.
Kia will offer the Seltos 3 engine options along with four gearbox options. Also, it will be the first car in our country that will come with three different automatic gearboxes apart from a manual box. All the engines offered with the Seltos will be BS6 compliant right from launch. Talking about the engines, there will be two petrol engine on offer along with a diesel option. The base petrol engine will be a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol with an output of 115 Bhp and 144 Nm while the diesel will be a 1.5 litre unit with an output of 115 Bhp and 250 Nm.
The most powerful engine here will be the 1.4-litre turbo petrol motor that will pump out 140 Bhp of power and 244 Nm of roque. All three engines will get 6 speed manual gearboxes as standard. As for the automatic options, the 1.5-litre petrol motor will get a CVT automatic option while the diesel engine will get a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox option. The turbo petrol motor will get a 7 speed twin clutch automatic variant. Speaking about the price range at which Kia will position the Seltos, we expect the Kia Seltos’ pricing to start from around Rs. 11 lakhs and go all the way up to 16-17 lakhs for the top-end variant.
