Kia will launch the much anticipated Seltos SUV on the 22nd of August. Till date, the manufacturer has established 265 touchpoints, 206 sales points and 192 service points across 160 cities which is no small feat for a manufacturer that has not yet launched its first car in India. The official bookings of the Hyundai Creta challenger will start from the 16th of this month for a token amount of Rs. 25,000. When launched, the Kia Seltos will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV500, Tata Harrier and the MG Hector among others.
Kia has stuffed the Seltos to the brim with features and this includes several first in class features too. Here are some of the segment first features that this car will come with – Heads-Up Display, Bose Speakers, air purifier with UVO control, reclinable rear seats, Connected ambient light, Solar glass (radiation cut glass), Blind Spot warning system, front parking sensors, and 360-degree camera among others. Other notable features on the Kia Seltos include 8-speaker system from Bose, steering modes, engine modes, sunroof, six-airbag system, 8-way adjustable powered seats, ventilated front seats, 7 inch MID, LED headlights and fog lamps, four disc brakes, and a 10.25-inch infotainment system.
Kia has also equipped the Seltos with UVO Connect which comes with 37 connectivity features including live tracking, Voice Recognition and remote start. The UVO Connect on the Seltos can be seen as another iteration of the BlueLink connectivity feature seen on the Hyundai Venue. Compared to the Creta, the Seltos is slightly bigger in size which means that interior space will be ample. The all-new Kia Seltos will come with three different engines along with three different automatic gearboxes and a standard manual box. This is the first time in a mass segment car in India that three different engine automatic transmission options will be available on a single model.
Talking about the engine, there will be two petrol engines on offer along with a diesel unit. The less powerful petrol engine will be a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine that generates a maximum power of 115 Bhp and peak torque of 144 Nm. The diesel engine on the Seltos will be a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that generates a maximum of 115 Bhp and 144 Nm of peak torque. The most powerful engine in the lineup will be introduced on the high-performance GT Line variant. This engine is a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that pumps out a maximum power of 140 Bhp and peak torque of 252 Nm. All the engine options will get a 6-speed manual transmission while there will be a CVT automatic for the 1.5-litre petrol, a 6-speed automatic for the diesel engine and a 7-speed Dual-Clutch transmission for the 1.4-litre GT Line variant.
