Kia Sonet Anniversary Edition: New TVC released

Kia launched Sonet sub-4 meter SUV in the market last year. It became popular among buyers in a short span of time due to its bold looks and long list of features. The Kia Sonet competes with cars like Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 in the segment. It is currently one of the most popular SUV in the segment. Kia recently celebrated the first year anniversary of Kia Sonet and they launched a special anniversary edition of the Sonet in the market as well. Here we have a new TVC of the Kia Sonet anniversary edition.

The video has been shared by Kia India on their official YouTube channel. Kia has made some cosmetic changes to the Sonet to differentiate it from regular variants and that is what is shown in the video as well. Before explaining the changes, Kia launched Sonet’s first anniversary edition at a starting price of Rs 10.79 lakh, ex-showroom.

Kia says the design has been inspired from Auroch which is a Eurasian wild bull. The front grille gets Tangerine or Orange coloured jewel like elements which is not seen in the regular variants. Other changes include the Orange coloured insert on the bumper. The redesigned faux skid plate at the front and rear gives Kia Sonet a muscular look.

The tiger-nose grille, unique looking LED DRLs are all retained. First Anniversary Edition badge is also seen on the grille. Kia Sonet is offering anniversary edition in Aurora Black pearl, Glacier white pearl, Steel silver & Gravity grey shades. The one seen in the TVC is Aurora Black Pearl and it looks extremely good on the SUV.

Normally in GT Line versions, the Sonet gets Red coloured accents at several body panels. That has been replaced with Tangerine or Orange coloured accents in the anniversary Edition. Other than these cosmetic changes nothing has changed in the car mechanically. The anniversary edition is available with the 1.0 litre turbo petrol and 1.5 litre diesel engine option.

It offers decent amount of features like touchscreen infotainment screen, electric sunroof, leatherette upholstery, multi-function steering wheel, cruise control and so on. The also difference between the regular and the anniversary edition is the difference in appearance. Kia Sonet 1.0 litre, three cylinder turbocharged engine generates 120 Ps and 172 Nm of peak torque. The same engine is also used Hyundai Venue turbo, i20 turbo and 120 N Line. The 1.5 litre turbo diesel engine generates a maximum of 100/115 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque. The manual version generates 100 Ps while the automatic generates 115 Ps.

The Kia Sonet 1.0 litre turbo petrol version with iMT gearbox is priced at Rs 10.79 lakh, ex-showroom. The 7 speed DCT version costs Rs 11.49 lakh, ex-showroom. The Diesel manual version is priced at Rs 11.09 lakh, ex-showroom and the automatic variant is at Rs 11.89 lakh, ex-showroom. Other than these two engine options, Kia offers a 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with Sonet as well. The 1.2 litre petrol engine is not available with the anniversary edition. The engine generates 83 Ps and 115 Nm of peak torque. It is available with a manual gearbox only.
