Sub-4 meter compact SUV segment has been growing tremendously in the last couple of years in India. We have seen the entry of new brands like Kia in this highly competitive segment. Kia launched Sonet in the market last year and it quickly grabbed buyers attention for its looks and long list of features. It is currently one of the most popular sub-4 meter SUV in the segment. It competes with cars like Hyundai Creta, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport in the segment. We have seen several videos of modifications on Kia Sonet in the past. Here we have a video where a base model Kia Sonet has been neatly modified into a top-end trim.
The video has been uploaded by Raahee on their YouTube channel. The vlogger starts the video by showing the component that they’ll adding to the car. He mentions that, the customer to whom the Sonet belongs is coming back because he liked the quality of work. This time around, the owner wanted several modification to convert this base model to a top-end trim Sonet.
The vlogger starts by showing the headlamps. The stock halogen bulbs on the Sonet were replaced with aftermarket projector lamps. They also installed Kia Sonet’s genuine projector fog lamps in it. The video shows the installation part. As the base variant does not come with LED DRLs, they were also installed aftermarket. These are dual purpose indicators that also work as turn indicators. Vlogger can be heard saying in the video that no wires were cut for the installation of these lights.
Moving to the side profile, there are Kia’s genuine roof rail and chrome garnish has also been installed on the lower part of the door. The stock steel rims were replaced with aftermarket alloy wheels. Other than this, no major modification were done on the outside. On the inside however, lot of things have been customised. Starting with the seat covers. These are custom made seat covers that resemble a lot with the ones that are seen on the top-end variants on Kia Sonet.
They have installed an aftermarket touchscreen infotainment screen which fits perfectly on the dashboard. One of the main modifications done on this Sonet is the steering mounted control. It comes with controls for the touchscreen infotainment screen along with cruise control. Normally the base variant does not come with cruise control. Steering wheel has also been wrapped in soft touch material with red stitching.
Other changes on the inside include aftermarket speaker system from Infinity with subwoofer and amplifier for better output. Overall, the work on this Sonet looks very neat.
